I know it can be tough to justify working on a personal creative project amidst all the other work and life things, but it’s times like this that I’m so thankful I carved out the time to do it. Now get out there and make something! ✨ by @kelseyblakecreative

Embracing the discomfort of trying something new in order to grow + improve. This is a motto I love to lean into.

For my latest short doc, and submission for @theartofdocumentary’s most recent One Day Doc Contest, I challenged myself with a few new approaches.

One of which was to shoot the entire piece without the use of natural light.

Natural light is something I've depended on for virtually everything I've shot in my video career so far. It is undoubtedly easy to make things look appealing when you're working with a great natural light situ.

For this project I chose to take that element away—shooting most of it at night with little to no lighting set up, depending mostly on the practical lighting of each scene.

SO. FUN.

I'll share more about this film later, but for now, please enjoy some teasers.

So thrilled to be selected for Honourable Mention for the @theartofdocumentary One Day Doc Contest. My film, along with the other winners, will be screened at the AOD virtual film festival later this month. (Details to come!)

This film "Going Deep" documents the journey of a woman experiencing deep transformation, as she discovers, endures and adopts the practice of cold water exposure.

Shout out to Lorna Morin of @go__dep for sharing her story with such grace.

One decade.

Ten years.
It feels like a lifetime and a flash all at once.
So much has happened and yet there’s so much more to come.

It’s beyond my comprehension how lucky I am that you chose me. I don’t think I knew what I was truly capable of until you came. You have taught so much.

Happy 10th birthday to my rock.

Here’s to many more decades with you baby girl.

I love you to the moon and back times infinity times infinity. You can’t beat that. 💫 💛 taken in The Moon by @kelseyblakecreative

Come with me to shoot some early morning footage for a documentary.

What Grows Here is a documentary following Blaine, a climate tech entrepreneur, as she works alongside her mother and daughter as 3 generations of women working together to build an organic flower farm.

One year ago, when we began shooting this film, the flower field was just grass. Full of possibility and the unknown. So much has grown since then—both literally and metaphorically—including the birth of their business @whitedog.flowers (as well as 15 ducklings that I am quite obsessed with).

Thank you @blaine_pearson and the Janes for trusting me with this. Let the growth continue! 💛💐🎥

That’s a wrap on Manitoulin ‘26.

This was our tenth year going up as a family.

Latest listing video for my real estate client @matter_homes 🏡

I’ve been working regularly with Wendy, creating all kinds of video content for her.

It’s always a fun experiment to see how we can push our collaborative creativity to keep things looking fresh and interesting. 🙌

It’s been almost 8 years since I picked up a camera and decided I would try on this whole “video” thing.

A lot has happened in those years. So many projects that have landed on my desk, each one teaching me a little bit more about who I want to be as a filmmaker.

I always say the best part about this job is the exposure I get to so many different people, places and stories. It is a constant fulfillment of my never-ending curiosity about the world and I’ve truly learned so much through this work.

And as the experiences continue to flow, I feel myself getting closer and closer to my true identity as a filmmaker.

So I’m trying this one on...
