Look, I don’t know where on the scale from “a little TMI” to a macabre cry for attention posting a picture of oneself in a hospital bed falls and honestly idc cause look how cute and innocent I seem😈 If you are wondering wtf is up, here’s the update.

As you might remember, last October we discovered that I have a large tumor in my pelvis. I shared that on my story when we still thought it was benign. Literally the next day, I found out it was malignant lol - that sucked. Since then I’ve been through the ringer trying to get a firm diagnosis and treatment plan. Most people don’t find out they have cancer and then wait 5 months to do something about it, but I was struggling to find a right fit with doctors and the doctors were struggling to figure out wtf it was. Turns out being UNIQUE is not actually serve when it comes to healthcare.

Long story short, I finally found my team and they landed on a plan. The details are horrific but they think it’s a “clever approach and feel confident that it will give me good outlook.” I’ve already completed two weeks of radiation and next week I have two days of extensive, rather morbid surgery (Tuesday and Wednesday). I’ll be in Boston at Mass General with the Harvard folks on my Ivy league shit.

All this has taken a real toll on me mentally, but despite the gloom I currently feel, I cannot omit how grateful I am that I have not had to go it alone. I owe a big thanks to @cheesepi @giocianci @twig.lips for picking me up from my three biospies. @nollyw00d for being the mass general connect and continually letting me bitch and moan without judgement. @scottinla @thisiskyrstin for hosting a dinner that helped remind me that our LA community is something to live for. And so many other people - family and friends - who are continually checking in, lending an ear while I cry on the streets of NYC and commiserate this turn of fate, or offering to help.

I may be a moody bitch but I have not stopped fighting. Think of me on Tuesday and Wednesday when I’m flayed open in an OR or doped up in the ICU and send some positive energy my way! Maybe i’ll delete this when I’m on the other side. XX #fuckcancer by @kelseyheard

One good thing about 2022 (which was not a great year) is that it made me aware of how many amazing people I am lucky enough to call friends. Ending this year with so many of you has been beautiful and has lifted my spirits. Thank you.

I have spent every year of my life thus far wishing for a better body. And now, all of a sudden, all I want is this same body for longer. Toured some gardens in southern Indiana today and thought people were staring at my red boots until I realized my chest laces were untied. 🙃 Tried to explain the purpose of a no eye contact photo to mom.
