the end of summer dinner of my dreams. 🍅🌿

three years ago when we first planted the hydrangeas in our backyard, i dreamed of the day they’d be big enough to create a little secret garden to host a small summer dinner party.

turns out it was even dreamier than i imagined...

our version of ferragosto. vino + candles + beurre + fleurs + baguettes + tomatoes grown in our backyard lining the dinner table. garrett cooking. bucatini towers. our wedding tablecloths. surrounded by some of our favorite humans + bowie zooming under the string lights. celebrating the end of our summer season.

and that’s a wrap on an INCREDIBLE series of summer block parties in nw slabtown!! feeling incredibly proud of what we were able to bring to life, the way our community showed up, the number of local businesses we were able to support, and friends we were able to see every mnth!! my heart is feeling so full & i can’t wait to see what we dream up next @alyssavega__ @alevegale @miapowers28 @ericaindira

FINDING INSPO @drycreekcabin

tucked away in the columbia river gorge with some of the most unreal views of the mountains + river below.

we recently had the most relaxing staycation @drycreekcabin hosted by @ericaindira for a few days. + honestly.. it felt like checking into our v own private spa overlooking the gorge. quiet mornings. misty mountain views. cozy fires + backgammon at night. hot tub soaks. sauna. steam shower. cold plunges. cooking dinner at home + absolutely nowhere else we needed (or wanted) to be.

located in the columbia river gorge, washington — tucked into the hillside above the columbia

why we love: the VIEWS. wow!! wow!! wow!! floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the gorge. thoughtful design details throughout. @teabar teas and matcha. hot tub on the deck. sauna. cold plunge. the dreamiest steam shower + @flamingo_estate + a wood-burning fireplace + a home that makes it easy to slow roll + our sweet pup bowie got to come too!!

one of our favorite days was also the simplest. we headed to @thesocietyhotel for lunch, grabbed a few groceries from the market + came back to @drycreekcabin for an afternoon rotating between the hot tub + sauna + steam shower + cold plunge + a cozy fire + backgammon + a bottle of vino + garrett making us dinner at home. perfection.

the perfect days spent at @ourplaace in neskowin. @_sunnyday.co coffee / @teabar matcha in the morning. @suzor_wines in the evening. sitting and watching the waves crashing w the most perfect @businessandpleasure_co set up. new fav spot to watch sunset has been unlocked (yes this set up is avail for all our guests!!) dinner on the back deck by @chefgarrettbenedict + pizza @cafeonhawkcreek + daily runs to @neskowinprovisions + finding daily treasures + cold water plunges + mastering the art of a morning slow roll

in late february, we went on what we thought would be our dream trip.
a place we had dreamed of experiencing together for years. to find inspo for @ourplaace @g.lovepdx @theloveshackpdx

we drove the winding roads through wine country, through the redwoods, and along the coastline + we watched the light move across sea ranch + shared oysters in tómales bay + lingered over meals and glasses of wine.

and somewhere in the middle of it,
everything changed.

this was where we got the call.
where our world quietly split in two — before and after.

we flew home early to be with our sweet gussi boii for his final twenty four hours. we came home as soon as we could + snuggled up with him next to the fire. his favorite. and helped him feel as much love + comfort as we could through all his pain.

we miss him more than i can even put into words.

our house feels empty with out his playful energy. the quiet is heavier. there are little reminders of him in every corner and in our every day.

i couldn’t look at these photos until just yesterday.
even now, they feel incredibly heavy.
there may be beauty in these images, but for me they carry the deep feeling of heartbreak and loss.

will share more of this trip and will be going back down there again soon. but for now..

just a little reminder that there is always more
happening beneath the surface
than what we choose to share.

forever grateful for my love @chefgarrettbenedict and holding my hand through it all. and deeply grateful for everyone who has shown so much love and support.
