Belated but elated to share I ran my first 5km official race 👟🏅Naturally I left my sneakers at Tality and had to grab them right before the race! (Thank gawd I had a key 🔑😅)A really pretty route 🤌Felt good before because I run 5km’s 4-5 times a week and lead a run club however….I was humbled right before…I underestimated nerves and instantly felt tight and so dry in the mouth.I started near the front and the first half of the race was brutal!!I finished strong after taking a 20sec break and drinking electrolytes at the mid point 😅A good lesson that race prep is a real thing even for shorter races I may be used to 👍I was shocked (and pleasantly surprised) to see even with a rocky start I was 2nd in my age group and 37/572 females 😍Was so nice to see my family at the finish line 💞And a first time putting on a medal infront of a step and repeat 🏅Good times all around 🤸🏻‍♀️And a valuable reminder that no matter how hard something is if you stay the course the results may exceed your expectations 💫 by @kelseylirvine
