This is Ruben! We brought him home three months ago from a rescue that sets up every Sunday at the Larchmont Farmers Market. Ruby is a chihuahua, around 7-8 years old, partially deaf, has stinky breath, a bark that sounds like Joe Pesci, and is the quintessential tiny velcro dog. Jake and I don’t know anything about the first half of his life but he’s already made such a seamless transition into our lives and I hope he feels the same about us. taken in Los Angeles, California by @kelseymui

I was 20 years old, lonely and desperate for a friend. I remember frequenting Waukesha animal shelters to see what rabbits were available for adoption but none of the bunnies seemed to spark that joy in me that I was longing for. I texted my mom telling her about my search and she serendipitously spoke with her colleague that same day about her rabbit she was rehoming. I demanded a photo and instantly knew Millie was mine.

Since then, Millie and I have been an inseparable duo. Millie’s personality was so unlike any rabbit — he was curious about people, unbelievably affectionate, and basically just a living/breathing plushie. I’d love to see a log of how many collective hours we have cuddled together. He was the sleepiest boy and it was almost a guarantee that he’d fall asleep if he was on the couch with us.

His favorite foods were banana, parsley, cilantro, mango — basically any fruit he would devour. He could eat a whole raspberry in one bite.

In 2020, Millie was diagnosed with E. Cuniculi. This caused him to develop cataracts in one eye that then eventually lead to full vision loss. Like the resilient and inspirational rabbit he is, he never let this major setback impact his life. Several months ago, he developed severe arthritis that changed the way he was able to move around in the world. He was taking three types of medication daily and being an absolute champ about it.

Millie and I must have shared thousands and thousands of kisses over the course of our ten years together. We always did this little dance where I’d smother him in kisses all over his face and then he’d reciprocate by licking my face. Even on his last few days when he was so weak, we’d still exchange kisses.

Millie had the power to change the world and I know that because he changed my life forever. There will always be a piece of my heart missing and as painful as it is, I know it’s with my Mr. Millie. It is a privilege to experience this grief in exchange for the 10 years we spent together.

What I wore in 2025! I refined + simplified my style a lot this year.
