The whole time I’ve been knitting, I’ve definitely been a journey > destination type, enjoying the process for its slowness and thoughtfulness. The finished object at the end was really just a plus!

After a while of grinding out pieces for the market I did in March, my attitude toward crafting became so blah. I didn’t really care for it anymore and was just working toward a deadline because I didn’t want empty product tables. I quickly saw my approach to making shift from “what will be the most fun to make?/ what will make me feel relaxed as I work on it?” to “what are people most likely to buy?/ what can I make the fastest?” I was also developing intense wrist and hand pains from how much I’d been working. It even hurt to drive sometimes bc the wrist pain was so bad!!

After doing the market, I took a loooong crafting hiatus. I needed my hands to get better, but it had also simply lost its appeal. In the last 4 months, I’ve only made a crop top, a coaster set, and a baby blanket - all commissioned items (so I wasn’t necessarily getting that creative satisfaction in the same way as when you -decide- to make something). Compared pre-market me, that’s such little making!! A similar thing happened after Christmas 2021 - I made so much under pressure that I wasn’t enjoying myself anymore.

Anyway, thanks to the recent formation of a stitch & bitch group with some members of my book club (and honestly thanks to my long break too), I’ve gotten excited about making again.

If you’ve read this long, sorry I’m long winded lol! The point is - there’s a reason for those warnings about turning your hobby into a side hustle 🤣 Moving forward, I’m probably just gonna try for 2 or so markets per year/ sell online only after I’ve accumulated stuff, rather than making a lot for the sake of selling.

feeling a little corny and new year new me -esque because after two years I am finally attempting to make some things to sell/ to maintain an online shop 🪩

I am having a bucket hat MOMENT. Inspiration has not struck in any other form 🫶 also I will be taking a Skillshare class in product photography bc ??? ? harder than one would think! Anyway what a #valentines #slay it would be to wear these hats (/bandana) on a picnic date with the girls!? I’ll be making my friends model ASAP ♥️💖

🎄🍬 I forgot to share these cutie pie coasters after I gave them as a Christmas gift, so I’m taking the opportunity to share various other yarn related photos from my camera roll, including my sleepy dog and a glimpse into my artistic process for making bucket hats <3. This pattern by @jaime_creates is probably my favorite knit so far. The hourglass stitch is 👩‍🍳💋🤌 and this knits up more quickly than I expected. 20/10 recommend making & wearing to an actual happy hour

It’s Mardi Gras!! I had hoped to make a full Mardi Cardi(gan) but am bad at time management. Putting the idea in the world now so I can claim it for next year. Instead, I was able to make a quick - unfinished-edges - uneven masked Mardi Gras vest. I love her so much 🎭💜📿🎷

Considering how many of Felix’s hairs got knitted into these pants over the last few weeks, it seemed fitting to include him in these pics🌟

I can never buy myself sweatpants again - these feel like wearing a blanket! will absolutely be making 1039573 more pairs!!

do u ever get a new job & knit a new cardi to match it?? anyway I work at my alma mater now and I’m so so happy about it!!

The pattern is basically adapted from the @id.knit.that #idknitthatpatchwork with some increases around the sleeve cuffs for a bit of ballooning. Of course I’ve also been inspired by the night and day cardigan by @vicky.knits and the half and half collection by @karas.knit.eng
