Kia ora e te whānau. We are currently looking for a few more volunteers to help us cook on Mondays at Gribblehurst hub in Sandringham. We cook from 1pm - 5pm every week, and would love a few extra pairs of hands to help us get through our cook so we can get kai packaged up and delivered to our community on Karangahape road at 5.30pm. If you are unavailable but would like to help in some way, we always appreciate donations to help us out as we are a self-funded kaupapa, with the help of members of the community 🖤 warm nourishing kai is a human right, and our communities deserve access to this 🍽️ by @kelsiv33

Kia ora e te whānau. From the 22nd of June we will be leaving our current community kai space. We will continue to cook for those in need every Monday, but things will be changing a little, and we will update you as soon as we have more details. Right now we are on the lookout for a commercial or community kitchen that would be available every Monday from 2pm-6pm. Please share around and tell anyone you think might be able to help. SWEET TREATS SPEAKS, THURSDAY 19 MARCH 7 30pm NACHOS! Kelsi Voyle is an activist, proud member of Kaiāwhina, and has recently started the K Road Community Kai kaupapa with other volunteers and activists which runs every Monday night in St Kevin’s Arcade. They care about the rights of all human beings (and animals), specifically those of our unhoused whānau, and are currently involved in organising for the Move On Orders Rally on the 29th of March! taken in Whammy Bar by @kelsiv33

Today, we want to pour some extra aroha into acknowledging our incredible sister, Rana Hamida. Rana is a true pou of community kai, always showing up with the biggest heart to cook and share meals with our street whānau and community here on K Road. And now, she’s taking that same revolutionary love to the water.

Tomorrow, Rana embarks on a steadfast journey, leaving to once again join the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. Rana, we hold you in our thoughts as you travel. Thank you for everything you do for our community, and we wish you a safe and successful voyage⛵️🇵🇸

Free Warm Kai in St Kevin’s Arcade, Karangahape Rd. Every Monday night 6-7pm. It has never been more important to share with our communities. In these challenging times, sharing and support are what truly sustain us. By preparing and sharing kai together, we strengthen our bonds with our street whānau and the wider community.

MONDAYS 6PM | KAIĀWHINA x GEMMAYZE ST
Every Monday night, Kaiāwhina and Gemmayze St provide a place of manaaki and connection. We’re providing free, warm and nutritious kai for anyone in our community who needs a meal.

In Auckland, and across Aotearoa, the need is real. Recent data shows homelessness remains a persistent crisis, with thousands without safe, stable housing. Coupled with the severe cost of living pressures, where rent, food, and basics stretch budgets to breaking point and more of our neighbours and street whanau are finding themselves in need of support.

This is why community care is essential. It’s about seeing each other, upholding manaakitanga, and ensuring that no one has to face things alone. A shared meal is a reminder that we belong to each other.
