Dear Mum,

The past 3 months has been the most painful time of my life.

I have read the scriptures for answers...i have listened to messages from renowned faith teachers and yes, they all point to the same thing about your whereabouts. Some emphatically claim that your soul is in heaven, aligned with the triumphant church and daily giving thanks to God. They say your new home is colorful, blissful and there are no tears no sorrow. I can relate and accept that. I choose to believe this because you deserve all the good rest, best pampering and nurturing that can be given up there.

I did not say thank you enough while you were here...not like you even needed to hear it to keep at the excellent work you did for me, the family and the community too...and it is a little too late now but I will say my thank you's anyways...

So, thank you for life, for carrying me in your womb for 9months+ and eating right, sacrificing some habits and adjusting to the changes i brought about to your body just to see i was birthed in the right way with all my faculties intact and developing the way they should. Thank you for caring for me with love and so much attention that i began to think the others were adopted. Thank you for always talking up my little academic achievements from kindergarten to undergrad. You made 4th and 6th place finishes in class seem like best ever results and wont stop telling everyone about this.
Thank you for putting up with me during those wild teenage years when i did unspeakable things and let you down countless times. Thank you for the meals, for waking up early and making all those delicacies every single day for all those years. Thank you for supplementing our pocket money and for paying our school fees whenever dad couldn't. Yes, we know about that too. Thanks for taking care of dad - you added alot of years to his life indeed. Thanks for leading me to Jesus. Thank you for leading by example

Thank you for waiting this long and ensuring all work was done before leaving. I know you deserve all the divine rest you are getting because you put in one heck of a shift it this short lifetime.

So rest on Mum.
