Transparency post… here I stand in front of @door_nyc. A place that saved my life in so many ways. A safe space,my creative home when home was unsafe….my studio… my outlet. This is my first sculpture created at 17/18 years of age. Coming home to NYC always feels different yet seeing this helps me remember my why. Today would have been my gramma 84th B day. She taught me how to sew,she also told me don’t let nobody tell me ish at the ripe age of 7. I wear my rings and bracelets like her. I carry my cat like her. I bite my cheek like her. Through every stitch she lives. Thank you Gramma Vi for telling me all the secrets and the importance of sustainability.
