September is national suicide prevention month.
I have never been one to open up hardly at all about this kind of topic due to how sensitive it is in my own life.
I have battled depression, anxiety, and suicide ever since I was younger. Most people that are close to me know that but I don’t just outright share it or speak about it on social media. It is a part of my life that I have tried to keep hidden.
But during this month, I feel as though I could make a difference for someone who may be struggling with those same things.
Suicide is not something to be taken lightly. It’s not a joke. It’s not something that should be laughed at or used as a way to be funny. It is a serious battle that people face every day and some people don’t win that battle.
I almost didn’t.

I fought it for so long and it almost took my life.
I would’ve left behind my family, my friends, the people that love me. I would’ve left behind a beautiful life and the beautiful future that I have ahead of me.
It’s easier said than done, but suicide should never be the option. It took me a long time to believe that. I felt like it would be better if I did. If I was gone.
But then God stepped in. I surrendered it to him. He healed a part of me that I thought was beyond repair. Of course I still struggle and have bad days, but I no longer resort to self harm or the thought of ending my life.
Trust me, it’s not worth it. If I can reach but one person, I will have done what’s needed to be done.

Reach out. Tell someone. Speak up. Don’t fight in silence.
You are far more loved than you may feel right now. You are chosen. You are called. You are made for a purpose.
