The hardest decisions in business are usually the most profitable.

Keeping the wrong employee because you feel bad doesn’t just cost you their paycheck. It costs your culture, your momentum, and the standards you’ve worked so hard to build.

I learned that lesson the expensive way.

If you’re serious about building a business that lasts, you have to protect the standard, even when the conversations are uncomfortable.

If you’re a shop owner looking to grow, scale, or build a stronger business, DM me “SCALE” and let’s talk about how I can help.

When I first started, I had a dream. A vision. Nothing more.

No crazy money. No shortcuts. No roadmap. Just a belief that if I worked hard enough, one day I’d build something real.

Now, 3 years later, I still catch myself looking around amazed at the type of cars that roll through the shop. Cars I used to stop and stare at… now sitting inside our building. Clients I once thought were untouchable now trusting us with their keys.

And people ask, “How did you do it?”

Hard work.

But here’s the part people misunderstand…

People think hard work is waking up early, posting motivation quotes, staying busy, or grinding when it feels good.

That’s not hard work.

Hard work is showing up when you’re mentally exhausted. It’s taking punches to the face from life and still opening the doors the next morning. It’s sacrificing sleep, comfort, weekends, peace of mind, relationships, and sometimes even your sanity chasing something nobody else can see yet.

Hard work is betting on yourself while everyone quietly think you’re crazy.

It’s being broke. Stressed. Doubting yourself. Solving problems nobody prepared you for. Smiling in front of people while behind closed doors you’re wondering how you’re going to figure it out.

People see success and think the reward was the hard part.

No.

The hard part was becoming the person capable of carrying the weight required to earn it.

And the truth?

I’m still nowhere near done.

People talk about work–life balance like it’s something you start with.
But on the entrepreneurial path, balance doesn’t come first — building does.

When you decide to create something from nothing… a business, a brand, a legacy… you’re signing up for a life most people will never understand.
There are sacrifices baked into the journey that nobody warns you about.

You’ll miss holidays.
You’ll miss weekend plans.
You’ll miss nights out, birthdays, and moments your friends think are “mandatory.”
Not because you’re cold or disconnected —
but because you’re busy building the life they’ll wish they had when they’re older.

Entrepreneurship is a season of imbalance.
A season where your dream asks for everything you’ve got and then a little more.
A season where you trade comfort for momentum, and social life for opportunity.

It’s lonely.
It’s heavy.
And it’s worth it.

Because one day, when the dust settles, when the business is stable, when you can breathe…
you’ll have the freedom, the time, and the life that only comes from betting on yourself.
You’ll have what the 9–5 world calls “balance,” except yours will be earned — not hoped for.

So if you’re in the grind right now, feeling like you’re giving up too much, remind yourself:
This is the tax for greatness.
This is the price of building something real.
This is what separates the owners from the observers.

Sacrifice now.
Freedom later.
Legacy forever.

Because at the end of the day…
the safest thing you can do is a 9–5.

It’s easy to be like everyone else.

Work 9 to 5. Cheer for your favorite team. Live for the weekend. Rinse and repeat.

Being different takes courage. Especially when nobody sees results yet and everyone has an opinion.

Start with your circle.

You’ve heard it: you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

Look at your five.

Do they hold you accountable—or help you justify why you haven’t started?

Spend enough time around excuses and yours start sounding reasonable.

Surround yourself with people whose actions force you to raise your standards. Then do the work to belong in that room.

Give your own future the same energy you give somebody else’s scoreboard.

By the time I get home from the shop, I sit down and I’m out. Sometimes before I’ve even asked my wife how her day was.

I put a lot of myself into what I do. Probably more than I know how to explain.

Even when I leave, I’m still thinking about it. A conversation I could’ve handled better. Something we need to fix. Whether the people who trusted us walked away feeling taken care of.

It’s hard to switch that off when you care.

I think some of the drive comes from wanting to find out what I’m capable of. I don’t want to spend years wondering what would’ve happened if I’d taken myself seriously. If I’d followed through. If I’d given the things I said mattered the effort they deserved.

So I push. And some days, I come home with very little left.

There’s satisfaction in knowing I gave the day everything I had. But I’m also realizing the people at home deserve some of that energy, too. My wife shouldn’t only get the version of me that’s too tired to talk.

I’m still working on that.

I want to build something I’m proud of, and I want to be present enough to enjoy the life around it.

For now, I keep showing up. I try to do the work well, own the moments when I fall short, and go to bed knowing I didn’t coast through another day.

If my younger self sat across from me today, I wonder what he’d ask first.

“Did we make it?”

Or…

“Was it worth it?”

He’d see Corsa Automotive behind me. The cars. The shop. Our name on the building. Something we imagined becoming something we could actually walk into.

He’d probably smile before I even answered.

But I’d want him to understand what happened between the dream and that picture.

Building a business takes pieces of your life you never thought to put in the budget. Time with people you love. Sleep. Peace of mind. The ability to go home and leave work at work.

There are days you accomplish something you once prayed for, then barely acknowledge it because payroll is coming, a customer needs you, and another problem is waiting.

I’d tell him that entrepreneurship can feel lonely even when your phone never stops ringing. That being responsible for people changes the way you carry yourself. That confidence sometimes means making a decision while knowing you’ll be the one answering for it.

Then I’d ask him a few questions.

“Are you proud of who we became?”

“Do you still recognize us?”

“Have I taken care of the things you thought would matter?”

Because younger me might judge success by the cars and the building. Today, I have to consider my marriage, my health, my word, and whether the people closest to me get the same effort I give my ambitions.

I’m proud of building Corsa Automotive here in Orlando. Every vehicle that comes through our doors reminds me that somebody trusted something I built.

But I’m learning to stop moving the finish line long enough to appreciate that.

Would he think we made it?

I think he’d be proud. I think he’d have questions. And I think he’d remind me that we wanted a life we could enjoy, too.

I’d tell him to keep going.

Then I’d listen. He might have something to teach me about why we started.

If you could sit across from your younger self today, what would you need to tell them—and what would you hope they’d say back?

Stop spending money trying to impress people who wouldn’t answer the phone if you needed help.

Reinvest in yourself.

Get healthier. Learn something useful. Build your business. Pay down the debt that keeps you awake. Put yourself in a position where one bad month doesn’t wreck your life.

Those things might not get you compliments. But they give you options.

And options are a big part of wealth.

Being able to walk away from a bad deal.
Taking care of your family without checking your balance first.
Having control over your time.
Making decisions because they’re right, instead of because a bill is due.

I like nice things. I work hard for them. But I have to ask myself: am I buying this because I want it, or because I want somebody to see me with it?

That answer matters.

You can spend years looking successful while putting off the work that would actually make you successful.

The same money could buy you attention for a weekend—or a skill that pays you for the next ten years.

Choose carefully.

Build a life you enjoy living, even when nobody’s watching.

I live two days in one.

Up at 4:30. Gym at 5. Then I work until noon.

By lunch, I’ve trained and put in seven hours. I grab food, reset, and start day two. That runs from noon to 7.

People ask how I keep up with everything I’m building. Honestly, I don’t always feel caught up. Some mornings I’m tired. Some afternoons the problems keep coming. But this schedule gives me a head start, and I need that.

The gym gets my mind right. The early hours let me get real work done before the calls and interruptions take over. Then I have the afternoon to lead, solve problems, and keep things moving.

It’s weird. It works for me. And over time, those extra focused hours add up to a 2x return.

If you’re building a business, find the hours that are actually yours. Protect them.

Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

I used to think moving fast meant answering every call, jumping into every problem, and making decisions on the spot. Most of the time, I was just creating work I’d have to fix later.

Running a business taught me to slow down where it counts. Get the facts. Set the standard. Make the decision. Then move.

You can lose a whole day rushing through a job you could’ve done right the first time. I’ve done it. That’s why I’d rather take the extra minute to think than spend the next week cleaning up a shortcut.

The goal isn’t to look busy. It’s to build something that runs right.

Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

“There’s more to life than working.”

I know. And I understand why people say it.

But if I’m being honest, I struggle to enjoy a day off. I can be somewhere beautiful, with people I love, and part of my mind is still at the shop. Thinking about what needs fixing. What I could do better. What I haven’t built yet.

Sometimes I feel like a failure when I’m not working.

I’m not saying that’s healthy. I’m saying it’s real.

When you remember what it took to get here, slowing down can feel a lot like going backward. Even when it isn’t.

I’m proud of what I’ve built. I’m also painfully aware of the distance between where I am and what I believe I’m capable of.

That gap is hard for me to turn off.

A bigger vision requires blinders. But I’m learning that the people I’m building this for still need me to look up.

I don’t have some perfect answer about work-life balance. I love the work. I feel a responsibility to see how far I can take this. And I’m still figuring out how to be present without feeling like I’m falling behind.

If you’ve ever sat down to relax and felt guilty about it, you probably understand.

Ain’t a flex to wear a Rolex and have to look at it to see when your lunch break is over.

Put that same energy into owning your time.

Gotta put all of it on your back. Your decisions. Your discipline. Your future. Stop with the giggles and take life seriously. Nobody can do your work for you.

I started in a storage unit. Built through mistakes, long nights, and putting money back into the business when I wanted to spend it.

I want the freedom. I’m willing to carry the responsibility that comes with it.

I talk about work because that’s what my life is built on.

Did it in a storage unit.
Did it with no paint booth.
Did it before the setup looked like the ambition.

I had bills to pay and a business to build. So I worked with what I had and earned the next step.

That’s how I built Corsa Automotive in Orlando. One customer. One repair. One problem solved at a time.

People want the bigger shop. The reputation. The freedom.

But can you handle the responsibility that comes with it?

When a job goes wrong, you own it.
When your team needs direction, you give it.
When you fall short, you fix it.

Nobody owes you a successful business because you worked hard. You still have to deliver. And once you deliver, you have to do it again.

That’s the standard I hold myself to—in the shop and in my life.

I’ve got plenty left to improve. But you’ll never have to wonder whether I’m willing to put in the work.

I did it when I had less.
I’m not doing less because I have more. 🔧
