Before it was called Washington, D.C., it was a wetland.

This summer, FoKAG staffer and artist Emily Fox experimented with a technique called chlorophyll printing to reflect on the natural history of Washington, D.C. and Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. Congratulations to Susan Hormuth, for winning FoKAG's monthly photo contest in September! We loved your shot of the Green Heron, who can frequently be seen scampering around our ponds and curiously eyeing visitors during late summer. 🍂
Calling all photographers: Submissions are open for October! Help us showcase the beauty of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens during all seasons of the year. Submit your photos using the link in our bio. 📸

Sound on! 🔉

Forest bathing in the rain is one of my absolute favorite things. The rain somehow heightens all of the sensory experiences.

👁️ the colors and movement
👃 the depth of fragrance
👂 the symphony of sounds
🫳 the textures and temperature of objects

Thank you @kenaqgardens for another amazing day of forest bathing. Let’s do it again soon!

This past Saturday we cleaned up litter around our garden, the Anacostia River Trail, and Kenilworth Park. ❤️‍🔥 THANK YOU to our National Public Lands Day volunteers!
Our next volunteer event will be held on October 24, and we'll be doing tree wrapping to protect them from beavers during the fall season. Sign up using the link in our bio!
