Psalm 27:8 “When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ my heart said to You, ‘Your face, Lord, I will seek.’”
This was the conversation between God and King David. David was in dire straits, a very dangerous situation. We don’t know exactly what was going on, but it was likely when King Saul and his men were chasing after him to kill him. The verses just before this (verses 1-6) show us David with unwavering confidence in God (“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”).
Then in just the next verse (verse 7) we see David hit a brick wall with anxiety. Reality creeps in & he cries out “Hear, O Lord, when I cry... Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn your servant away in anger!”
Verse 8 is the most pivotal verse in this story! David heard from God “Seek my face.” Which, did you know that face in Hebrew is synonymous with presence, favor and intimate access?
David’s heart reflexively responded “Your Face, Lord, I will seek!”
I LOVE THIS PART!!! We’ve all been like David and have gone through really hard times. Sometimes we let anxiety, fear or stress creep in. But we all have a personal, intimate invitation from God to seek his face!
We have the choice to say “Hey, I’m not going to focus on the enemies encircling my camp! I’m going to focus on God!”
We can be like David. He remembered that the Lord has given us a breathtakingly tender invitation to come into his presence. And we can respond as David did, “Your face, Lord, I will seek!” Amen 🙏🏻
On a side note, this is Kinley’s favorite person in the Bible, King David, of course! We love to learn about David. 😊

My eyes are on you, Lord. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you for being there, always, even when I mess up. You are my rock. It’s difficult to always hear your voice. I pray for clarity & for me to hear what you want me to hear. I pray daily that you lead us into the next stage of our lives and bless us.
