Our sweet boy couldn’t be without his sister for long. He declined heartbreakingly quickly upon losing her. ❤️

Sam, you were always just a baby. We first got you as a wide-eyed, two pound puppy. Who knew a creature could be so cute? Even at thirteen, with no teeth, stinky breath, and droopy eyes, you were our baby.

This little gremlin was as cuddly as could be. If you were on the couch, he’d find a bend in your legs, an arch in your back, anywhere to curl up in. I’ve taken many a naps with him by my side.

And the squeaks! And the snorts! He was such a vocal boy. Even on our last call, you squeaked when Mom pet your ear in a way you didn’t approve of. You little drama queen.

Losing you both hurts. The silly little taps of your paws, the kisses and sniffs. You both knew me through so, so many phases. You both have taught me the purest form of love.

Our perfect babies now have each other. They’ve lived long, plentiful lives. As painful as it all is, I remind myself that. Run endlessly in heaven, Meggy. Cuddle all of our old friends, Sam. Something tells me you’ll both be big hits up there.

That day at the farm in 2011 when you jumped up on the couch next to me and Mom, snuggling your head in my lap, I knew we found a good one. You would give kisses and cuddles one moment and be fighting foxes and hopping fences the next. You were so strong until the end.

We had so much time together, sweet Meggy girl, and we are so grateful.
