today i did something that i still have not yet processed completely. i said goodbye to my aunt katie.

my aunt katie was the most selfless, wholehearted, and caring person. she never failed to make me feel loved and seen anytime i saw her. i could go on and on about all the amazing things about her and memories with her. she would always use ATLEAST three rolls of scotch tape to show her love in her presents, regardless if it took you years to open. her love for God, sunflowers, googly eyes, and tigers will be something i forever carry with me.

along with all the great memories, she taught me an extraordinary amount of life lessons. most importantly, she taught me how to be empathetic. i could be going to make sure she was ok, but her main concern was if i was doing ok. she wanted everyone she loved to have everything they wanted (hopefully my mom lets me get a kitten soon, just for her).

vacation and family events won’t ever be the same without her, but i know she would want all of us to fun and be together. i am so extremely grateful to have gotten close with her and got to have twenty beautiful years with her.

loss and grief is not easy by no means. i should’ve asked you so many more things about life. but knowing that my aunt katie is with my great grandparents, my uncle howard, and God now, makes everything feel more calm.

love you always & forever,
your favorite great niece by @kendallstack._
