It’s so hard to put into words what these last few months have felt like, after losing the man who meant everything to our family 🕊️

Our beloved Abuelito - great-grandfather, and the heart behind Grounded Café - recently passed away

He wasn’t just the man who raised me like a father … he helped raise our kids too

He taught us love
He taught us patience
He taught us joy, positivity, hard work, humility, and so much kindness - the kind that lights up a room and never asks for anything in return

If you’ve ever been to Grounded… we know you’ve felt it ♥️

The way we serve, the way we welcome you in, the way we treat one another - it’s all because of him

“Todo Con Amor” isn’t just a phrase. It was the way he lived. And it’s the way we continue to run this business and our lives

He passed on his unwavering passion, beautiful heart full of pure joy, love and kindness. We are all so incredibly grateful that we get to experience the world through his eyes

Our familia, this café, this community, and this dream - It only exists because he believed in love above all else. Leaving his life in Mexico to give us a better future

And now, every coffee, every hello, every gathering held here is our way of saying:

i have so many words for this year, but the ones that have rang the most true, are these:

-things can be beautiful and amazing and life altering and still, the hardest things you’ve ever done or been through in your life. duality has been a big theme in my life lately. the beauty that comes when you understand opposing things can be equally true at the same time. this has been the most challenging and difficult year…yet, the one i have felt most alive. i am so proud for letting myself feel endlessly and deeply this year. it takes a lot of bravery but it is so worth it, and we are all capable if we let ourselves love big and hurt big. here’s to hurting and loving and living and being fearlessly alive in every moment by @kendra.espiritu

A little late but still—my love letter to 2025 ❤️‍🔥

The hardest one by far—physically, mentally, and spiritually—yet easily the most substantive.

7 countries. From a thousand life-altering conversations, debilitating laughter that resembles delirium and contemporary dances on the cobblestone streets of Barcelona, to bed bug scares, wandering around homeless at 4am in Amsterdam, and getting our only clothes locked in the basement washers of Switzerland. The profound loss and heartbreak that deepened my capacity for love and life; learning that depth is a function of friction and growth lives in the challenge.

A year so full of pain, passion, light, music, art, fear, experience, chaos, connection—lessons on balance and duality—so many beautiful souls and so so so much dancing. The person it has made me—I wouldn’t trade for the world.

With that being said, here’s a glimpse of my camera roll from the year that made me feel alive again. A long video but a fun watch if you stay, I promise :) by @kendra.espiritu
