BBC 1xtra Live Lounge W/ @mneliaa

Still soaking this one in 🤍😭

Being apart of a BBC Live Lounge has always been a goal of mine, so getting to do my first one singing BGVs for one of my faves @mneliaa feels surreal. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and to have worked with such a deserving and genuine artist.

Just 4 months ago I was in surgery, uncertain if or when I’d ever sing professionally again — a reminder that the blessing was delayed, not denied. All praises and thanks to the most high for this gift. My first gig back after surgery, making this moment even more special ✨🙏🏽

Faith carried what fear couldn’t touch. ✨This isn’t just a degree — it’s a testimony. 🎓🤍

Going into uni, I had previously been diagnosed with vocal nodules and told this was something I’d always have to live with. Being so young and just starting my music journey, I was devastated and convinced I’d never sing properly again. After suffering with tonsillitis for years, I had my tonsils removed and began vocal rehabilitation with a speech and language therapist. Over time, my voice began to heal . I began uni, gigged, did sessions, and sang weekly in church ⛪️✨.

About a year later, the problems returned… worse than before. My speaking voice became hoarse and raspy, my upper range disappeared, and I had no idea how I was going to get through a singing degree with barely any voice. In June this year, I finally saw a vocal specialist and was diagnosed with vocal cord polyps, meaning surgery and stepping back from gigging and serving in church — the hardest part of it all 💔.

But through it all, God reminded me of His promise: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… (Jeremiah 29:11) 📖✨. Even in injury, pain, frustration, and anger, God proved He is still God. When I couldn’t see it, He was working everything for my good 🙏🏽🤍. He carried me through a three-year course, every vocal exam, every assignment. When I doubted His power, He never took His hand off me 🤍🎓✨
