Lately I’ve been thinking about this moment a lot.

Marialle and I did a 2 week road trip in the big ol’ December of 25’.

We went all along the coast, starting from Stellies. I can’t even remember the order we traveled in, but we spent time in places such as L’Agulhas, Struisbaai, Hermanus, Wildernis, Stilbaai, Mosselbay, and Sedgefield. Staying with friends or camping.

What stuck MOST with me, is this encounter we had on our first day of the trip.

We stopped at this little coffee truck at a viewpoint on the mountain pass, and I wipped out my vlog camera and we started dancing, recording ourselves, moving and taking videos of it. That’s when I saw this biker man… just sitting, enjoying the view. Was he sad? Content? Happy? I didn’t know. Something about it was so beautiful.

Right before we left, he came up to us, and told us with the utmost genuineness (which I have never really experienced before that) that we were beautiful girls. Just that. Simple. Us being, dancing, laughing, loving, was beautiful.

Obviously never saw him again. But I do wonder about him.

This plays a part in the rest of the whole trip. What stuck with me is the people we met along the way. Like Uwe and Petra, the German couple who travelled all the way from Springbok, Namibia to L’Agulhas in an RV. Or this other old couple, Elizabeth (and her husband who’s name I can’t remember) we met at the same camp site who travelled all the way from PE.

It made Marialle and I happy, that we were spending our youth, doing what retired people who have been through life knew was important. I guess different things fulfil different people, maybe there is no right or wrong, black or white, but man oh man, what a breath of fresh air this was. Is life then not just about experiencing?
