Look up! It’s what I always do. La Maison Française, Rockefeller Center. Art Deco gilt bronze bas relief and crowning cartouche by sculptor Alfred Auguste Janniot.

“Pan” by James Bidgood. 1960s. Delightful visit to CLAMP art gallery @clampartnyc today where I tumbled into the opulently fantastical world of Bidgood in their current exhibition Dreamlands, tied into the new monograph of the same name published by Salzgeber. It’s very wonderful to see this signature work of his displayed in a fantastic print.

Jayne Mansfield and her daughter Jayne Marie, 1965. Photo by Diane Arbus. Very much enjoyed my visit to the Park Avenue Armory @parkavearmory where the Victorian grandeur of the building never fails to impress me. This photo of Jayne is but one of 450 by Diane Arbus dynamically arranged in the current show “Constellation”. The photo was commissioned by Esquire magazine and Arbus shot it as she saw it. It is a fascinating photo, minus the bubbly champagne aura Jayne carefully cultivated in her typical appearances.
