What an incredible @essencefest weekend! Thank you so much @essence @hulu & @aworthicompany , especially @the_britt_uation and @ellosloveayanna for the opportunity to moderate the @reasonabledoubthulu panel on the main stage. This is legit one of my favorite shows! I am so grateful! 🥹🩵🫶🏾

I love @essence and @essencefest so much. This was my first time moderating an in-person panel and I feel so blessed that my first time doing this was here, a place that feels like home. Thank you to @dramaraamla and @emayatzycorinealdi @mckinleyfreeman @morrischestnutofficial for being so warm and welcoming as well 🙏🏾

This really means a lot to me because last year, the day before Essence Fest, I was unexpectedly laid off from my job and now, a year later, this happened. I had so much fun in Charlotte this week doing important work with incredible teammates! The best part of the trip was reuniting with my homegirls @mztialuv and @faj.love 🥰💖 I’m so grateful to have shared time with my friends. Thank you both for coming out to support and bringing auntie and Rosee along! Thank you also to my friend and former editor @amayanicolee for coming and bringing your beautiful friends! So nice meeting you irl sis. ALSOOOO, shoutout to Tia for cooking for me too!!! In my latest for @huffpost & @huffpostqueervoices , I wrote about one of my favorite superheroes - Supergirl! 💖📝

I talk about how important the new @supergirl film is for young men to see superheroes who actively defy the toxicity of the Manosphere and its teachings.

“While I didn’t grow up in the orbit of misogynistic podcast hosts spewing dangerous, uninformed rhetoric, I have too many memories to count of adult men who’ve tried to impress their sexist ideas upon me. I embrace a different kind of manhood unmarred by the straight male gaze. I’ve spent the last three decades of my life experiencing how the throes of toxic masculinity have claimed the lives and dreams of my queer siblings and women allies — and embracing women superheroes give me hope for a shift.

I do hope that young boys see themselves in them, and hopefully understand that male confidence does not equate to female suppression. If not, what kind of world are we leaving them to inherit?” 🙏🏾✍🏾 by @kennyonce

I wrote about why the recent commentary surrounding Ariana Grande’s body image is harmful and speaks to a broader issue: how Americans have conflated care with entitlement, especially when someone’s body changes in ways we think we understand.

“Whether you realize it or not, those aggressively inquisitive comments surrounding the perception of someone’s body may seem like care, but they’re rooted in a perverse form of entitlement.

This entitlement, exercised most commonly on women, people of color and other marginalized groups, normalizes the invasion of people’s personal orbit regardless of whether they’ve weighed in or not.” by @kennyonce

Thank you so much @neworleansandco for the opportunity to attend this year’s @essencefest 🤎🥹🫶🏾 I’m so grateful and I had so much fun getting to reconnect with some of my favorite media colleagues and new faces! It felt like a family reunion 🥰

I loved getting to cover the festival for @uptownmagazine and loved getting to interview incredible Black creatives and visionaries who inspire me. I loved chatting with Eva Marcille, @cliffvmir and @brucealmighteee & @ralph.farquhar about their respective passion projects, Black joy and more.✨✍🏾

I also loved running into the legend @marabrockakil and getting to share with her how much she’s influenced me. 🥹🙌🏾
