Always been a little rough around the edges… but God made my crooked places straight.
A heart that can still love deeply after breaking apart?
Yeah, we’re the last of our kind. 🖤😎

Daddy will always be there. 🖤🤍🤍

Choose Jesus. Choose healing. Choose peace. Choose freedom.

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36 (NKJV)

Just because someone desires to be with you doesn’t mean they have the capacity to build with you.

If someone wants you, let them say it.
If someone hurt you, let them own it.
If someone changed, let the fruit confirm it.
If someone loves you, let that love become visible through consistency, sacrifice, tenderness, honesty, reciprocity, and peace.

Words matter…
But truth is what gives words weight.
May we learn to love like God.

My dearest daughters, may you always find Daddy ready and willing to dance, laugh, explore, build, play, and learn with you… forever. 🤍🖤

Some people treat you wonderfully while you are useful to them. What happens when the usefulness disappears can reveal what the kindness was rooted in.

Anybody can be charming toward the boss. Anybody can be generous when generosity purchases access. Anybody can treat an attractive person wonderfully when they want them.

Watch somebody with the waiter. The janitor. The stranger. The person beneath them organizationally. The person they no longer need. The person who cannot open a door for them.

Fruit gets loud when there’s nothing to gain.

“By their fruit you will recognize them.”
— Matthew 7:20

Belated birthday reflection post:

My life looks almost nothing like I once imagined it would at this age. I’ve already been married. Built a home. Raised a family under one roof. Lived the suburban-dad life. Watched a version of my future I thought was permanent fall apart.

And yet, here I am…
Still a father.
Still a lover.
Still a writer.
Still creating.
Still dreaming.
Still laughing.
Still dancing.
Still learning.
Still becoming.
Still deeply loved by God.

This past year could have devastated me.
Instead, God used it to introduce me to a version of myself I might never have met otherwise.

I don’t know exactly what the little boy in these pictures imagined his life would become…
But I think he’d be proud that we kept going.

God has been good to me.

Chapter 39. Cheers to restoration. 🥂🖤

“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.” — Joel 2:25

It is often in our deepest valleys that Jesus meets us.

And once you’ve truly encountered the mercy of the Lord, nothing stays the same. You can’t help but testify to His goodness.

Some people may misunderstand it. Some may call it a trauma response. Some may even call it religious psychosis.

But your spirit knows.

If it had not been for the Lord, you would not still be standing.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.”
— Psalm 23:4

Lust promises satisfaction, but appetite can grow through indulgence rather than disappear through it.

That’s why freedom isn’t pretending desire doesn’t exist. It’s learning that desire doesn’t have to govern you.

This isn’t something I teach from perfection.
It’s something I’m learning by wrestling toward increasing surrender.

“I will not be brought under the power of any.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:12

Hiking is cool. Hiking on horseback with a black steed that matches your energy is better. 🖤🐎🇲🇽

From the pit to the palace…

Not because every road was easy.
Not because every prayer was answered the way I expected.
Not because I got everything I wanted…

But because through every valley, every loss, every breaking, every rebuilding… God never left me.

I enter this year with gratitude for what was, peace about what is, and faith for what is still to come.

No bitterness. No fear. No looking backward wishing I could rewrite yesterday…

Just gratitude.

All praise, all honor, and all glory to the God who kept me.

“The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man…” — Genesis 39:2

This is 39. The new book begins. 🖤🙏🏾
