A few weeks back I attended one of the shows at @redgateartssociety to support my friend's band performance. It's my first time at a venue like this, and honestly the vibe was amazing.
You have local pop punks bands rocking it out inside the venue, and right outside the backyard there's a retro gaming night going on.
And people said Vancouver is boring! taken in Red Gate Arts Society by @kensviewfinder

This photography thing is hard.

Obviously part of it is because I’m still very much a beginner, but I’m sure I’m not the only one, spending so much time mulling over the minute details. Is the colour good, if the composition makes sense, should I have moved closer to the subject yada yada yada.

And when you edit, there’s a dozen more knobs and levels that you can pull to affect the final image.
The decisions are endless, and it paralyzes you.

But then I remember once I asked a friend, if she got the shot she wanted.
“No, but I don’t care. I saw the beauty with my own eyes and I’m so happy”.

Being able to observe and appreciate the beautiful things in your life, its enough to fill your heart. Even if you didn’t get the shot and its all blurry. Or if its the same old sky and sunset you have seen a thousand times. Or the post got 3 likes and a bot commented “send me this post”.

I’ve been on the ferry a lot lately. These shots were not taken in BC, but on the way to Isle-de-Coudres in Quebec. It was an island close to my hostel, so I took a short a detour to check it out. Ended up spending more time on the ferry than the island itself, since going back and forth is longer than a loop around the place, plus tourist traffic means longer wait time on the way back. Who would have thought I’m not the only visitor who knows about this island.

Got somewhat decent photos out of it though. Sometimes it’s truly about the f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ frames we made along the way. by @kensviewfinder

The irony of me posting these when its raining outside.
These pics were taken at the start of May, but I decided to re-edit them with the little knowledge I have picked up since. 3 months is both a short and long time, it feels like so much has happened since.
