In 1978, Prince Philip was in attendance, TIME magazine covered it, and the World Championships came to the U.S. for the first time. Kentucky has been a fixture ever since. This April marks the 50th Kentucky Three-Day Event. That’s five decades of Olympic selection trials and five-star competition, with nearly 100,000 fans a year from all 50 states and more than a dozen countries. Swipe through how it started, then help us tell the rest. If there’s a piece of K3DE history you want to share, submit it now at the link in our bio. by @kentuckythreedayevent
Two Kentucky victories...and a place in our history forever! As fischerChipmunk FRH retires from competition, we celebrate a remarkable horse whose partnership with Michael Jung gave Kentucky fans so much to cheer for. From their victories here in 2022 and 2025, to individual Olympic and World Championship gold, their journey has been a privilege to witness. Now, fit and healthy, Chip will enjoy more time in the field at Michael’s home, where their partnership continues beyond competition. Congratulations to Michael and the entire team behind this extraordinary horse. Thank you for the memories, Chip. Wishing you a long, happy retirement! Ever walked down Nina Bonnie Boulevard at the Kentucky Horse Park? This past April, we took a walk down memory lane with its namesake. Part of the park’s story since shortly after it opened in 1978, Nina Bonnie shared her memories of how it all began, the people who championed its dedication to horses, and what makes this special place keep getting better with every passing year. Do you have stories to share? We’d love to hear and share them! Submit yours today at the link in our bio. by @kentuckythreedayevent
