Happy heavenly 60th birthday to my mom.

Lord knows I miss you dearly. There isn’t a single day that I don’t think about you.

Life has been so hard, depressing and so different without you. This was the hardest & most traumatic year of my life….Losing you right after your birthday was never something I saw coming… that was not on my bingo card for 2024.

Yet somehow, I’m still here, still standing, and that’s because of everything you taught me and everything you poured into me.

You would be so proud of me and of my niece today.

I wish you were here to see who we’re becoming. The strength I have, the choices I make, the way I keep going , it’s all because of you. Your love, your lessons, your example… that’s what has carried me through.

This was supposed to be our big year.
Me turning 30, Simone turning 20, and you turning 60.

If you were here, we’d be on our way to an NBA game for your birthday, your absolute favorite thing.

Nobody loved watching basketball like you did.

We had plans… so many plans. Including that mother–daughter outing with others you were so excited about.

Even though you’re not physically here, I honor you with everything I do.

I wish I dreamed about you more. I try so hard to see you, to feel you close again, but the dreams just don’t come the way I hope.

There was one time, though… one dream I’ll never forget. I was crying, asking you to come back to me, and you looked at me with so much peace and told me no ,that you were happy where you were.

And somehow, even in that moment… even in death… you were still mothering me. Still comforting me. Still showing me love in the way only you could.

Thankfully, I have so many videos, pictures, and beautiful memories to hold onto. When I look back, I can’t think of a single bad moment with you, not one. Every memory is warm, pure, and filled with love.

I keep you close in every milestone, every decision, every moment I push through. Your spirit stays with me.

Receiving the Key to the City and my Proclamation Day still has me in awe, disbelief, and deep gratitude. There’s so much work left to do, but this moment reminded me that I’m walking in purpose.

To think… my mom spoke this over my life before she passed. I didn’t know how or when something like this could ever happen.

At the time, it felt impossible. Today, I stand as proof that purpose always finds you.

A 30-year-old woman living out her words & both of our wildest dreams—and inspiring others to chase theirs and dream the impossible. ♥️🔑

I’m honored, humbled, and motivated to keep doing the work that brought me here. This is only the beginning.

One of the best parts of this is my students finding out and hyping me up, talking that talk 🤣 and telling me how much this inspires them and how it makes them feel being under me 🥺🙏🏽❤️

Even in my mom’s death, I’m still thriving because of everything she poured into me.

Her love, sacrifices, support, and belief in me helped shape the woman I am today. I would not be where I am without her. That is what you call legacy.

Rest in peace, Mom. I’m still carrying what you gave me into every room, every opportunity, and every dream I pursue.

My biggest takeaway from @athletesabroadsummit 2026 was that preparation has to match the opportunity.

Athletes need more than talent. They need the right information, relationships, and support to make confident decisions on and off the court.

I left inspired, equipped, challenged, and even more committed to helping athletes prepare for what comes next.

When people ask how I became an Athletic Director at 29…

Honestly? God did it. 😂

I had no Athletic Director experience, no manual—literally—and had to help build the program from the ground up.

Thank God for transferable skills, great mentors, resilience, a willingness to learn, and the confidence to figure things out as I went.

The funny part is, sports leadership was something I said I would never do. Now I love building sports programs, expanding opportunities, sharpening systems, and advocating for girls in sports.

What started as a leap of faith became the beginning of something I truly fell in love with.
