START HERE / 001

I spent a lot of time believing I needed to fit into a box.

Music. Producer. DJ.

And somewhere along the way, I realized that by trying to keep everything so focused, I was leaving out parts of my story that actually give the music context.

The things I’m into. The places I go. The records I dig for. The work I do. Fatherhood. Faith. Culture. Ideas. The things I’m learning and becoming.

Music will always be a part of what I do. But it’s all of the other things that shape the person making it.

So here’s to not separating them anymore.

Just a few moments from 34.

I got to travel, make music, see some new places, spend time with people I love, and somewhere in the middle of all of that… life changed in a pretty MAJOR way.

I became a dad.

There’s honestly no way to fit everything this past year meant to me into a caption. I’m just grateful. Grateful for my family, grateful for the lessons, grateful for the memories, and above all grateful to God for allowing me to experience all of it.

I think 34 taught me to slow down a little and actually be where my feet are.

These really are the days.

I dedicate this one to my Aunt Nay Nay. Kem is one of her favorite artists and hearing Love Calls always takes me back to those car rides with her when I was kid.
