One of the tings I loved about Kerby and Thomas’s wedding was the courage and confidence they had to just do things their own way. They were quirky and in their own words, the right kind of weird for each other. From the getting ready to the ceremony to the details, all of it individual and perfectly suited to this gorgeous couple. I love that!

Watching Kerby and Thomas celebrate their wedding exactly as they wanted reminded me why I photograph weddings the way I do.
I’ve never been interested in asking people to perform for the camera or squeeze themselves into someone else’s idea of what a wedding should look like. I much prefer documenting people as they already are—because that’s where the good stuff lives.

It’s why I shoot documentary style for weddings and families.

It isn’t the mainstream approach, but it’s the one that feels most honest to me.

You are enough, just as you are, no need for pretending.

I tend to attract others who understand this too. It’s how I find my tribe, or they find me.

I know that won’t suit everyone, and that’s okay. If another photographer’s style or approach is a better fit, I’d much rather help you find them than convince you I’m the right choice.

Kerby and Thomas didn’t need to fit anyone else’s idea of what a wedding should look like. They simply celebrated in a way that felt true to them. Those are exactly the kinds of stories I love to photograph—not because they’re different for the sake of it, but because they’re honest.

If you’re wondering if you will get photos of the details at your wedding, here is your answer.

Kerby’s bouquet was very unique, hand crafted with skill and love, it featured lego flowers. These bouquets were resting on a side bench when I arrived to the venue where Kerby was getting ready to go and marry her love Thomas. While Kerby was doing what a girl does before popping her dress on, I looked for any details that I could see and capture.

Love the individuality of these bouquets and this was just the beginning.

Every detail throughout the day was lovingly crafted, from the hairpiece, the flowers, the arch, the table decorations, the welcome sign featuring their babies, the cake and the cookies. The piece de resistance though would have to be the individually hand made rug ‘Better together’ never looked so cool! Hats off to this very talented and crafty couple, Thomas and Kerby your details were one of a kind and absolutely stunning. by @kerdle012
