I illustrated this map for a wedding last year, as a guide to help guests locate themselves and the different venues/ attractions in the area (many guests were foreign).

I loved doing this project and I’d love to do more wedding stationery.

I feel so privileged šŸ™ I got to create my dream pair of Adidas Superstars for the @adidasza waterfront store. They are on display with a few other incredible artist's shoes.
-
I've always been someone who collects things, bits and bobs, trinkets I find that spark some unexplained pleasure in me.
-
The concept for these shoes was to express my obsession with collecting through personalising the laces with beads, badges, and embroidery patches inspired by a porcelain leopard I treasure šŸ†

Embroidered pet portraits was where it all began 🌱 I found the repetitive motion of stitching soothing and it helped quieten my anxious mind.

I don’t take on commissions like this regularly anymore, because of their timely nature. But every now and again a friend will ask for one, and it feels special to go back to where it all started, and embroider a special pet portrait that I know will be cherished forever.

I tried to create a process video of this incredibly timely project, but I’m not so good at filming myself work, I’m easily distracted by the work šŸ˜…

I think a top down rig would really help! If anyone has a good recommendation, pls lmk šŸ™ by @kerensetton

I had the best time painting at Liya and Kevin’s wedding a few weeks ago, and the beautiful @johannesdal.1207

The atmosphere was so warm and joyful and it felt so special to celebrate their beautiful love story, and interact with the guest.

It’s been a restful winter season, but I’m ready to start painting again!

ā€œDedicated One I Loveā€, is an artistic exploration of love in all its many facets. Showcasing the work of Danielle Jordaan, Zoe Taguma, Tanya Appelgryn, Chrisna Vorster, Jesse van der Schyff, Keren Setton, Maggie Le Roux, Tayla De Beer, and Merissa Wiid, ā€˜Dedicated to the One I Love’ celebrates warmth, love, and connection. From serene scenes of homes to family portraits that show relationships between mothers, daughters, and sisters, to reminders of special bonds between grandmothers and their granddaughters, each artist’s work is dedicated to a someone that she loves. The paintings are accompanied by letters from the artists to their loved ones, giving a glimpse of the personal relationships that have inspired the creative work. The exhibition theme reflects Danielle Jordaan Studio’s broader focus – as a live wedding painting business, the studio’s artists capture the love and joy felt at wedding celebrations. ā€˜Dedicated to the One I Love’ both portrays the artists’ individual experiences of love and encourages the viewers to reflect on the loves in their own lives.

This project was the largest ceramic artwork I’ve made and it was exhilarating!

I hand painted 180 of the 330 ceramic tiles, creating a mural that measures 3,1 x 1,1 meters!

I fired half of the tiles in my sister’s small kiln, with the help of my dad ā¤ļø(the best project manager). And when my kiln broke an amazing local potter stepped in to offer their help.

The piece was for a client in Zambia, and so the birds and plants are based on species that are found in the region of Kariba, Zambia.

Working with ceramics have taught me patience and surrender, because there were many frustrating and stressful times in this project, and I just had to trust that things would work out.

I’m so in love with the medium and I’m itching to create more tile murals asap!!!

A special thank you to @lulumaisoninteriors for allowing me to make this piece and especially to @georgieeporge for all your help! I can’t wait to see it installed taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @kerensetton

A special comission 🐶

This was my first time creating a full ceramic set. X2 mugs, x2 expresso cups, x2 plates, x2 side plates and x2 bowls.

I chose to draw inspiration from the clients two favourite things (their child and dog 🄰) creating a ā€œtwinā€ design.

It was interesting (and a challenge) to recreate the same image on multiple objects at different sizes, but I think it came out pretty cute 🄰 by @kerensetton

ā€œEye contact - Portraits of the Inner Cityā€ consists of 21 eye paintings of people who work and live in the inner city.

The idea was to create a portrait of the people who make up the inner city. I included vendors from St George’s mall, city employees, residents and pedestrians.

You can see it installed at the ā€œKiosk of curiositiesā€ on St George’s Mall.

Thanks @missionforinnercityct for the great initiative and for including me - i love public art and I’m so happy to have been able to contribute to making our city a bit more beautiful and intriguing. taken in St. Georges Mall Street by @kerensetton

Anna and I painted live guest portraits at Louise and Jacci’s magical wedding a few weekends ago. As we were 2 artists painting that day, we weren’t able to paint all 120 guests. So I had the fun job of painting the remaining portraits at home.

Painting live at weddings brings its excitement and challenges. Sometimes we battle harsh weather, and it’s easy to get distracted by guests, music and the excitement of an event. So painting the remaining guests in my studio was a very different experience. I loved the quiet, but I really missed seeing the guests collect their artworks and their reactions.

As an artist I’m often disconnected from my clients and seeing their reactions to my work. So it’s a very special thing to paint live at events, and to experience the joy that my art can bring. And to feel a part of making the experience special for the guests and the bride and groom. taken in Cape Town, Western Cape by @kerensetton
