❤️ OCTOBER IS SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST AWARENESS MONTH ❤️

Sudden cardiac arrest and a heart attack are not the same thing.

🫀 A heart attack happens when blood flow to part of the heart is blocked.
⚡ Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) happens when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively because of an electrical problem.

And one of the most important things to remember: Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to ANYONE, at ANY AGE.

DeLainee was only 4 years old when she suffered sudden cardiac arrest. CPR helped save her life. ❤️

Today, she is a survivor, an advocate, and a cofounder of Pillows4patients.org, helping provide handmade pillows and comfort to pediatric heart patients.

These photos show her journey—from a young SCA survivor, to practicing lifesaving CPR, to sewing pillows and delivering them to children who need a little extra comfort. ❤️🧵

During Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, please take the time to learn Hands-Only CPR and how to use an AED. Immediate CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival after cardiac arrest.
