I had the pleasure of talking real estate with NBC Nightly News this week. Business reporter Brian Cheung interviewed me about how the economy and rising mortgage rates are affecting today’s home buyers.

The segment focused on the very real impact higher rates are having on monthly payments, especially when buyers are already feeling the pinch from higher costs across the board.

But there’s another side of the story that didn’t make the final cut.

I believe there are still real opportunities in today’s market for both buyers AND sellers.

For buyers, less competition means more breathing room than we’ve seen in years. There’s often more time to think, more room to negotiate, and less pressure to make a decision in a matter of hours.
For sellers, limited inventory — particularly when it comes to well-located, well-presented homes — continues to provide an advantage.

Yes, the market is more challenging. But challenging doesn’t mean lack of opportunity. It means strategy matters. Pricing matters. Preparation matters. And perhaps more than ever, having the right agent in your corner matters.
