Rubicon crossed.

Third year in a row I catch myself saying: “This was the most intense year of my life.”
Third year in a row life answers: “lol, you have no idea”

Taking SWE position at one of the leading Ukrainian startups during the hardest year of university was not exactly the most work-life-balanced decision I’ve made.

But man, it was fucking cool.

This year pulled me in every possible direction: university, work, deadlines, responsibility, ambition, fatigue, growth - and a lot of moments where I genuinely had no idea how all of that was supposed to fit into 24 hours.

Somehow, it did.

Not because I magically became superhuman. Not because I had everything under control. But because the right people were around at the right moments.

People who made the chaos lighter.
People who shared tea, coffee and support when I was at my lowest.
People with whom even the finals week turned into jokes, late-night conversations, and “okay, we’ll actually pull this off.”

I don’t want to make this year sound cleaner than it was. It was messy, exhausting, and sometimes stupidly absurd. But it was also full of moments that reminded me why this place matters so much.

If you were one of the people who sent a random “how are you?”, stayed for a late conversation, shared the stress, made me laugh during deadline season, or simply made the battlefield feel like home - thank you 🖤.

You helped much more than you realize. taken in Lviv, Ukraine by @kertytsky

Ohana

There’s a lot of great things about UCU.
But if I would have pick the only one - that’s definitely going to be people of UCU.
The thing is - we know each other for only two years. But we build a connection that will be there for decades.
Previous year I would’ve said something like “We’re bunch of ambitious teenagers who want to do something more than just existing.”. But in present moment I would say - “We’ve bunch of individuals who are actively involved in making life our life and life of many other people great”.
Our progress accelerates. Previous year we were talking bout homework. Now we’re discussing jobs, relationships and career. More and more people are stepping into serious work, serious business, and a more mature way of thinking. You can feel the shift in mindset. People are becoming more intentional, more ambitious, and more responsible for the direction of their own lives.
The best part is that we are not growing separately. We are developing through each other. We are pushing each other forward, growing together, and becoming stronger in the company of people who are also evolving. And that exactly what Ohana means - nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
Extremely happy to be in that place around those people. Extremely grateful to each one of you for being part of @ucu_apps taken in Український Католицький Університет by @kertytsky

The engine in a rocket ship does not fire without a small spark first. We all need small sparks, small accomplishments in our lives to fuel the big ones. Think of your small accomplishments as kindling. When you want a bonfire, you don’t start by lighting a big log. You collect some witch’s hair —a small pile of hay or some dry, dead grass. You light that, and then add small sticks and bigger sticks before you feed your tree stump into the blaze. Because it’s the small sparks, which start small fires, that eventually build enough heat to burn the whole fucking forest down. by @kertytsky
