November ~ last year ✨

• had the last moon cake made by my late grandfather’s best friend from my hometown 🥮
• toastie being on his best behaviour when we had friends stay
• learning how to make traditional recipes - tea eggs, lurou

October ~ last year 🍵

• a visit to see family and family in Taiwan and my hometown
• lots of walking, exploring, drinking tea, antiquing, R&R in the mountains
• made friends with some monkeys and tea merchants
• endless amount of good food whenever we went 😌

⭐️ Earl Grey Yogurt Cake with Lemon Mascarpone

For this year’s new year’s party, I baked the loveliest earl grey yogurt cake ( tweaked from @dessertfortwo ‘s yogurt cake recipe ). I had some mascarpone left so I mixed it with fresh lemon juice and vanilla paste. It took longer than expected with smoothing out the lemon mascarpone. I think I need a cake stand to make it easier next time. 🙃

August ~ last year 🌞🏖️💦

• spent the first two weeks traveling across different lakes in Italy, road tripped to may towns
• we then found ourselves in Antwerp & Bruges
• indulging in so many great dishes, wines, drinks & more
• an abundance of sun & sea
• came home to lots and lots of sunbathing with Toastie 🤎

July ~ last year 🍴🥢

• so much pickling! with white vinegar (i’m yet to learn how to ferment)
• seeing Lana Del Rey at Wembley with the hubby
• making pizzas, burgers, salads, baked goods and all the yummy foods from scratch
• gifting our neighbours a bottle of @veuveclicquot as they tied the knot
• lots and lots of sunbathing with Toastie 🤎

June ~ last year 🌾

• walking amongst tall grass that looks like wheat
• continued to try new recipes and ciabattas were a hit!
• more runs to @ikeauk , “coffee” breaks with sweet treats I baked

🍤🥗 Tofu & Prawn Salad

This is super quick and easy, perfect all year round — though I think I only make this around summer. Save the ingredients below and let me know if you give it a try! 😌💌

I pretty much eyeball everything so just go with the portion you’re happy with.

• Medium to Firm Tofu
• Cooked Prawns

🥚 Taiwanese Tea Eggs

A childhood favourite and always available 24/7 at any 7 Eleven in Taiwan. It’s perfect on its own or as a side dish. They are traditionally hard boiled but I made these tea eggs with the consistency of ramen eggs. Save the recipe below and let me know if you give it a try! 😌💌

Ingredients
* 12 Eggs
* ¼ cup Soy Sauce
* 5 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
* 3.5 cups Water
* 8 cloves Garlic peeled
* Ginger few slices
* 10g Black Tea (2 brews & best with loose leaves)
* 1 Cinnamon Stick
* 2 Bay Leaf
* 3 Star Anise
* 2 tbsp Rock Sugar (optional)

Instructions
* Ramen egg version: Boil eggs for 6-7 minutes then rest in cold ice water.
* In a pot, add all ingredients except eggs. Simmer and boil for 5 minutes and let it cool.
* Using back of spoon, lightly crack the egg to make tiny cracks all over. You want to break enough so it can marinate well.
* Once the broth has cooled down, store the eggs in a container covering it completely with the broth to marinate overnight in fridge.
* Peel and enjoy it the next day!

April ~ last year 🍃

• day trip to Richmond for MIL’s birthday (turned out to be warm & beautiful)
• baked many many banana breads & carrot muffins for Toastie’s 10th birthday
• met our regular garden fox (from afar) 🦊
• lots of trips to @ikeauk , recycling papers, boxes and started weeding / gardening 🪏
• more decorating and finding gorgeous home goods
