I’ve been back in the UK now for three months. I can’t lie, when I was coming home from Latin America I was absolutely shitting myself. I had no job, a very loose plan and a whole lot of hope that things would work out.

Since then I’ve taken the leap to go freelance and been so incredibly lucky to land two amazing clients in two completely different worlds, and somehow I’m doing work I’m actually proud of without the daily dread that defined the last year of my career.

But the thing I wasn’t expecting? Coming home felt like coming home. I was so worried that time away would create distance — instead I spent two weeks in Blackpool seeing more of my family than I had in the last five years, and since coming back to London properly, I’ve been surrounded by the best people I could wish for.

I’m looking forward to continue to work on what I’m building and investing in myself over the next few months and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year holds.

I only spent two weeks in Peru and I’m now a Rory Sutherland statistic but my breath was taken away by the natural beauty that was hidden around every corner.

The only thing I would change about my trip is spending more time here. I was so sad to leave, there’s still so much to explore and so many amazing people to meet!

Going to Colombia felt more like I was visiting friends and family rather than backpacking solo.

From dancing with mis amigas abuela on New Year’s Eve to partying with friends that I met earlier on in my trip, seeing the same faces in every hostel I bisected along the Caribbean coast and meeting people I felt like I’d known a lift time even though it was for the first time.

Every part of my trip was special, but I will always look back on my month in Colombia as a time that was filled with the best people who were down for absolutely everything.

Every single person radiates love and joy and we danced our socks off every single day. I’m going to miss your strange love of brit pop and chicharrón soooo much.

Six weeks in Mexico City started with Día de los Muertos and going back to school for Spanish classes. I even drifted in the clouds above the Teotihuacan pyramids and sang the night away to Chappell Roan and Dua Lipa.
