Last night in São Paulo was a very special night.

28 years ago, I watched Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria live for the very first time. I walked out of that show inspired and wanting more than anything to one day perform in one of Cirque du Soleil’s shows.

I never imagined that 28 years later I would be sitting in the audience watching Alegria with my Brazilian family, who had never experienced Cirque du Soleil live before.

Seeing their faces and the tears in their eyes made the night even more special. There were a few tears in mine too.
A huge thank you to every performer. The talent, discipline and artistry on that stage was incredible.

I chose not to film. I wanted to put my phone away and experience every moment of your work. Sometimes you just need to sit back and take it all in.

And a special thank you to my best friend of more than 30 years, Igor Karpov.

From our gymnastics days to where life has taken us today, so much has changed, but our friendship has remained strong.

I’m incredibly proud of everything Igor has achieved, both personally and professionally, and grateful that after all these years we can still share moments like this.

28 years ago I watched the dream. Last night I watched it from the other side.

Thank you Alegria for a beautiful evening! ❤️ taken in São Paulo, Brazil by @kevin.atherton

Time goes by so fast, and we never really know what to expect from it. The only thing time truly brings is the uncertainty of the future.

I don’t know what the future has waiting for us, but I know that right now, all I feel is happiness, happiness to be with you, happiness to be the three of us together, and excitement to see where life will take us next.

Thank you for this beautiful first year together. I can’t wait to discover all the next chapters with you, my love, my boys ❤️ taken in Some Where Peaceful by @kevin.atherton
