Two sparkly witches, Dr. Frankenstein, and his monster. (With guest appearances by a disco and a guy who’d go to a disco). Happy Halloween! 🎃 by @kevin_m_runyon

Happy ✨5️⃣✨ to @kevin_m_runyon, who braves the dance floor (and everything else) just for me. I loved you at our party, on that park bench five years ago, for years before that, and I’ll love you for all the years to come ❤️ by @kevin_m_runyon

First day of big school 🍎📚. With a little side-by-side from last year because while it’s hard to see in real time, my how he’s grown 🥹. Reach for the stars, Zaydo potato! by @kevin_m_runyon

You can’t keep it, but we’ll try. Maine summers become DC falls and the kids are only little for so long. August birthdays, beaches, and the between; we are lucky. Yara is two today and Zayd will be five soon. @instantkarmah thanks for building this with me. by @kevin_m_runyon

Yara Aurelia is 18 months! This winter she’s been escaping the arctic temperatures by hanging indoors with her daycare buds, practicing walking and talking (also roaring and shrieking), wearing fuzzy PJs, and most of all, doing everything she possibly can to keep up with her brother who misses her after she goes to bed at night. We can’t believe such a big personality inhabits such a tiny body, we can’t believe how much fun she is already, and we can’t wait to see what’s next. We love you, Yari girl 🥰. by @kevin_m_runyon

Merry, bright, and ready for a long winter’s nap 🎄❤️🎅🥱 by @kevin_m_runyon

Theo turned five last week and I’ll admit, his two younger siblings have eclipsed his once constant presence on the ‘gram and my camera roll, so let’s take a moment for our big, ridiculous boy. Anyone who knows Theo knows he’s a LOT … large and in charge, aggressively affectionate, chews all the things, minimal manners (training?). He went from an only child in a hip urban apartment to a suburb dog in a house full of kids real quick, and though he’s witnessed so many changes in his family, his motto has remained the same — as long as he’s close to us, he’s happy. He’s a lover of the first order and adores every person (perhaps none more than Tom Gordon) and dog he meets; whether they love him back has zero bearing on this. His hobbies include tug of war, sitting down in the road on walks, meats, and snoozing next to me all day while I work. In his five years he’s taught me (as my first dog ever) that it’s true what they say — we don’t deserve these magnificent creatures, and the unconditional loyalty they lavish on us, but we’re so lucky to have them. Love you Theeees, Cheese-won, Teo, Chunkamunk, happy ✨5️⃣✨! by @kevin_m_runyon

First profesh photos as a family of four and I’ll love them forever.

🎃Go ninja go ninja go! 🎃 by @kevin_m_runyon

Happy birthday (one day late, we’re always late these days) to the center of our universe. Turning 4️⃣1️⃣ in the constant company of a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old is not for the faint of heart, but that bright & wild spirit has you mastering the task. We love you @kevin_m_runyon, may all your wishes come true ❤️🎂🥳. by @kevin_m_runyon

Ain’t no party like a Spidey party ❤️🕸️🕷️🎂💙 by @kevin_m_runyon

✨ Zayd Alexander is FOUR! ✨

Our first baby is no longer a baby, and it’s joyful and thrilling and a little bit sad all at once. Objectively, he’s awesome. Full of original jokes, curiosity, opinions, and energy. He’s handled becoming a big brother like a champ (most days), and is starting to see the benefits of having a playmate. He wants to be an artist like Daddy, and a photographer, too. He likes the Beatles, Spider-Man, and ninja turtles. His mind and imagination are extraordinary, his taste buds are not (mac and cheese and chocolate chip cookies for birthday dinner tonight!). He knows that being Palestinian means taking care of the olive trees, and that being a good person means taking care of others. We are a lucky, lucky mommy and daddy, and we’ll never take him for granted. HBD to our Zaydo ❤️ by @kevin_m_runyon
