Happy birthday to @naomialexandra15 , who teaches our kids and me that happiness looks like quiet snuggles at home and also like rolling around in corn kernels, hiking a new trail, or a thousand trips to the zoo that all feel new and exciting. This weekend, over 100 congregations are saying “We see you” to their unhoused neighbors.

For our first ever Weekend to End Homelessness, we asked congregations all over the country to set aside any part of their weekend to acknowledge the reality of homelessness in their community and to commit to taking a faithful next step. This has amounted to:

🏘️More than 100 congregations
🌎 28 different states represented
⛪ Over 26 distinct denominations participating

And this is only the beginning. NFCEH is preparing a year’s worth of engagement, education, advocacy, and solidarity as we continue to grow and challenge people and communities of faith.

We’re the National Faith Coalition to End Homelessness, and we affirm the dignity and inherent value of all people, unhoused and housed, as created in the image of God and called beloved.

We reject the notion that those who experience homelessness need to undergo a transformation of behavior, spirituality, or treatment to be worthy of housing, care, or participation in community.

We believe that everyone deserves a safe place to sleep, surrounded by supportive community and resources, and all the things that make us at home.

Beloved doesn’t come with a checklist.

On October 10-11, 2026, congregations across the country are setting aside a Weekend to End Homelessness to consider how God invites everyone home — and what it could look like for the church to do the same.

Register your congregation at the link in bio and we’ll send the toolkit: liturgy, sermon points, music, children’s curriculum, and connections to the people already doing this work near you.

My book mail this week has been INCREDIBLE!

Thank you to @pastortrey05 and @dramykenny for the early copies. I can’t wait to read them. Each of your first books was a revelation, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting your follow ups.

I’ve been excited too for years about @kkdumez follow up to Jesus and John Wayne and it’s finally here!!!!

Too often homeless services (especially faith-based ones) spend all their time and energy trying to sort out who is worthy of housing or support.

We don’t believe in barometers of worthiness. We are all healing from something, and healing follows love—not the other way around. by @kevinmnye1

I’m not exaggerating when I say this work feels like the culmination of everything I’ve done up to this point.

I’m Kevin Nye. I spent the better part of six years thinking about why faith communities pour so much real love into homelessness while staying disconnected from the systems most likely to end it.

The hard truth is that churches are doing a lot of individual work, but they aren’t connected in helping the work go further.

The National Faith Coalition to End Homelessness formed out of a desire to change that.

Here’s where it stands. On October 10-11, congregations across the country are invited to participate—in any small, medium, or big way—in a shared moment of witness, solidarity, and commitment to end homelessness.

More than 70 congregations across 25 states and more than 20 denominations have said yes.

We want to make this an annual event and to keep making it better and better. More than that, we have all kinds of ideas about how to keep mobilizing churches to live out their calling among the unhoused.
