008 - “I ripped the whole right side of my head off, broke teeth, broke bones, shook my head quite bad.”

That was almost twenty years ago. Today Kevin Soller runs a spider excavator for All Mountain Construction, working steep mountain terrain most equipment can’t reach.

“My character developed from hardships that I went through. It gave me a work ethic that is unmatched. I know how hard I can push, and I know when I need to tap out.”

Full story at the link in my bio.

This is the BlueKollar Human Archive Film Project.

"can you fix what the original excavator fucked up"

Yep, as the kids say these days..Let me cook

These homeowners were swindled by a man that said he could do what he was hired to do. I'm beginning to realize that's more of a commonality in this industry. Not only were they out tens of thousands of dollars, but they couldn't get the final Co on their home with the state of the slope.

Well... I solved all those problems and then some

Onto the next

8 years ago... I was tired, worn out and beat down. I didn't show it on the outside but on the inside I was looking for a cliff to fall off and I wouldn't have cared. I didn't like the man I had become. Retiring from drinking will probably be the best decision I will ever make.

I'm very fortunate, I've written some pretty amazing chapters in my book of life, even in the hazy days. I don't have regrets but there were a lot of lessons learned the hard way.. I still have challenges, everyone does. Now I handle those adversities in a much healthier way.. I'm proud of me.

Thanks to all of those who have supported this journey, and those that paved the path before me who gave me the courage to take control. I've gotten to meet some pretty incredible people on this path, But the most impactful by far, my true self.

I couldn't have expected my life to be the way it is.

" are you where you are in life because of what happened to you? Or because of decisions you've made?"

That question rattled me when I heard it a couple days ago, to a lot of people it seems like I'm just working a lot... There has been deep rooted motivation for the tireless hours spent trying to master this machine. It has opened up a world I couldn't have imagined, allowing me to level up in every aspect of my life. I have worked all over the United States, this machine and I have been all over mountains. rivers and the forests...Those are my happy places, especially when I can use my skills to help better the environment.

Get in loser we're going for a drive...

Everyone's heard the saying before you judge, walk a mile in that person's shoes to understand their perspective a little more... Well, if I were to put my brother's shoes on and try and walk a mile and truly understand his situation I wouldn't get very far.. It's not because I'd be tripping constantly because Danny's shoe is four or five sizes bigger than mine. after all, he is my big brother. But if I was truly trying to understand what his life is like I wouldn't be able to use my legs.. My brother's been in a wheelchair for over 7 years now, that's a lot of time. I try to grasp to the best of my ability, the complications and hurdles that he has to overcome on a daily basis but it's hard. Simply put, it's a perspective that is very challenging for those of us that still have the ability to fully move.

I bought myself a new digital camera for Christmas, something I've wanted to do for a while. I love the ability to tell stories with photos so selfishly I wanted to go shoot with my brother, little did i realize that he was going to be the one telling the story..

You purchased this car from @eric_howk a while ago. A brilliantly talented musician whose life also has a very similar characteristic as yours. He's in a chair. I didn't put a lot of thought into what that purchase was beyond a car. But I did liked that you were reaching out to other people in chairs. I was proud of you for making connections with other people that understand what you go through.

I knew you wanted me to show me what it really meant, so we hopped in with your four-legged hound to go on a little "redneck dog walk" and see what that old rig could do.

Windows rolled down as we got onto BLM land, paired with a fine choice in music, which you've always had a very keen ear for.

Today wasn't about speed, nor bashing around in a whirlwind of dust...but rather a slow roll, surprisingly smooth one at that. And one simple goal. Being in the moment, And finding freedom. Exploring places that are easy for most, but they don't.. I understood it instantly... your smile told me everything. You were free. Thanks for that lesson. I love you Danny by @kevinsoller

The grind continues, snow or shine.

This one has been testing me physically. today I am tired but I am here and I'm going to be 7 days a week until I'm done. I have been getting questions why the trails aren't going to open?

The first photo shows this perfectly , plain and simple it's a safety concern. I'm working above and below the bike trails all over the place and if it comes down to playing human frogger... It's not me that's going to be hurt. To the couple people I've seen poaching, I don't appreciate you. To everyone else that understands and has been patient. Thank you. This project will be well worth the wait.

The second photo, my morning haul. 16 gallons of fuel, day pack weighing probably 20 to 25 lb and a GPS Rover totaling around 145 lb. I follow that up with another round of fuel or two depending on the day every single day. Rough calculation, I've carried over 4,000 lb of fuel on this lift line, My current position is 8/10 a mile where I park. I can do it 20 minutes with 145 lb on my back. I am doing everything I possibly can to keep this one moving safely and efficiently as I can. These trails will be worth the wait..

That's all for now, time to dig

Well... It's safe to say I choose to ski some pretty stupid shit for no other reason than exploration science, I would feel bad dragging anyone into this, I would call this survival skiing at best... But it's my favorite thing to do
