2nd place at @ibjjf No Gi Worlds today🥈Master 1 Featherweight division. Felt great going up a weight class, I was able to secure 3 submissions in my first 3 matches. Lost the finals by guillotine to the #1 seed.Thank you to my beautiful wife @cecilialestrange for supporting this dream since I started jiu jitsu, and for always being with me, I love you. 2nd place at the @ibjjf PanAms 2024 🥈I won my first two matches by advantages and found myself in the finals against the #1 seed. There is no room for error at these tournaments and I made a few small ones in the final that led to me getting submitted via armbar. Congratulations to my opponent from Belgium, very good competitor.I am proud of myself for medaling at another IBJJF Major, but once again I lose the finals. I will see that top spot soon. EBI 24: The Bantamweights. Officially an @ebiofficial combat jiu jitsu vet after this weekend. White belt me would be proud. Went 1-1 for the day, thank you @eddiebravo10p @victordavilaufc @tory.mvp for the special match opportunity before the final 🤝This competition down in Monterrey, Mexico brought me to a new level of competition. I was able to make a mindset shift of “happy to be here”, to “I belong here”. Had a hard fought match with a stud Isaac Cordova. I had some solid sub attempts, a lot of strikes landed, and felt like I was controlling every bit of it, until all of a sudden I wasn’t anymore and I was tapping. That’s jiu jitsu 🤷🏻‍♂️ respect to Isaac for making the final and dominating that until losing in OT.Had a strong bounce back with the special match, where I was able to dominate positionally, land a few strikes and get the RNC. I know I can beat any of these guys on any given day. I’m excited to announce Coach @wintercoldbjj is officially an instructor at BlackRose!Winter has committed hours of hard work with our youth programs, as well as founding and growing our women’s program. I don’t know what it’s called, I just know the sound it makes when it takes a man’s life😳But if you have any suggestions, let me know what you’d call it.I discovered this move at one of Greg Souder’s Ecological JiuJitsu Seminars during one of the games he had us playing. It wasn’t exactly what he showed, or what others in the room were doing, but was within the constraints that were given. After a few successful attempts at it, I thought to myself: “there’s definitely something here!”I’ve been playing with it for a few months, and it’s been working out for me surprisingly well. I think most people are expecting jiujitsu to look a certain way, and when it doesn’t quite meet that expectation, it really throws them off. See if you can turn some heads and try this move out for yourself! by @kevjitsu

I am extremely grateful to have been able to make my F2W debut here in Portland, as the main event. I was honestly shocked at how many people were still in attendance when I walked out.One thing I’ve noticed throughout these last 8 months, is that I’ve received a tremendous amount of support from people within our local jiu-jitsu community; whether that’s in person at events, through private conversations, or in direct messages.What has stood out to me, though, is that many of those same people seem hesitant to show that support publicly. I understand that jiu-jitsu can be a small world, and gym affiliations, friendships, and local politics can make things complicated. There are people who have been incredibly encouraging behind the scenes but may not feel comfortable sharing a post, leaving a comment, or publicly aligning themselves with what we’re building. This also goes for people from other gyms, who show up to train on my mats, but never post themselves publicly in my gym, acting like they never come over here.Regardless, I appreciate every message, conversation, and word of encouragement. Public or private, the support hasn’t gone unnoticed, and I’m grateful for everyone who has reached out along the way. The in person support at the event meant a lot to me. Got the win last night in the @f2wbjj 318 main event 🥋Picked up a decision victory over a tough 2nd-degree black belt, using a series of leg entanglements and leg lock attacks to control the match and get the job done.I’m very happy with my performance, even though I wasn’t able to find the finish. Every time I step on the mats, the goal is to showcase the best version of my jiu-jitsu, and I felt sharp from start to finish.Huge shoutout to my team, students, and training partners at @blackrosejiujitsu and @10thplanetportland for all the support; both in the training room and at the event. Couldn’t do it without you all 🖤🥀☝🏻👌🏻Thank you as well to everyone who stayed until the very end of the card. I didn’t compete until around 10:30 PM, and seeing so many familiar faces still there meant a lot.
