As a first-generation college student, I’m proud to share that I earned my Bachelor’s in Accounting in May 2023—and just two years later, I completed my Master’s in Accounting. As a proud Dominican, I’m honored to be part of the 8% of Latinos who hold a master’s degree. Never did I imagine I’d make it this far, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the blessings along the way. This journey was far from easy, but I’m thankful I stayed the course and saw it through.

There were many moments when I questioned why I was pursuing my master’s degree, but I always came back to one reason: my siblings. To my siblings—I hope you know this journey was for you. I wanted to show you that there’s more out there beyond the cultural norms we grew up with. You don’t have to be part of the statistics stacked against us. I want you to aim higher, work harder, and dream bigger. I hope I’ve inspired you to believe that anything is possible with dedication and perseverance. Keep breaking those generational barriers!

A heartfelt thank you to my mother for her unwavering support and belief in me. And to everyone who encouraged me and pushed me toward the finish line—you know who you are—thank you. I couldn’t have done this without you.

Though my time at Caldwell has come to an end, my journey of learning continues. Next up: becoming a Certified Public Accountant 🙏🏽🎓
