When @kirilp_portraits and I first planned this photoshoot, our mood board was honestly quite generic, filled with a mix of aesthetic images we had pinned from Pinterest. On the day of the shoot, I wore a light blue cardigan over a white linen shirt and wide-leg dress pants. It wasn’t my most fashionable or imaginative outfit, but I figured we could make it work.

When we arrived @kindredcameras, the space was bare with only lights and a plain backdrop. We looked around for anything that could add some character to the scene. That’s when we found an interestingly glazed vase filled with faded orange daisies, a floor lamp, and a block lying in the corner. Using those simple props, we began experimenting and rearranging them about.

In that moment, creativity sparked between us. What initially was quite an uninspiring photoshoot turned into something spontaneous and expressive. We arranged chairs differently, exposed the backdrop and lights to reveal the crudeness of portrait photography. This project quickly became a distinct process of creativity sparking from the mundanity. Flick through our collection and see how our creativity evolved. And the lamp looks weird.

In the frame is a pleated shirt with a low waist corset. A recent style that has piqued my interest. Let me know what your thoughts are?

When modernity reminisces the vintage, we get: “a man in love with a woman from a different era. I see a photograph! I see a film” —Man Ray, Midnight in Paris (2011).

Thank you so much to Isa for bringing her creative vision to this project 🫶

It has always been a dream of mine to see the ancient architecture of Athens. From Homer’s epic poems to the diaries of Greek philosophers, Athens has been the centrepiece to their civilisation. Today walking through the ruins was a surreal experience; though my life carries on in a small corner of the world, these cultures and people have lived millennia before I even began reading about them. taken in Athens, Greece by @kevo_tran
