Oil painting after my own still life set up. On my course this weekend I got to try to make a still life set up. It was really difficult and I tried many combinations for a long time. First I had an onion instead of the lime. But it didn't make sense with the flowers.

I think I've found the perfect paper for Polychromos color pencils. In this drawing I used them exclusively on Canson Mi-teintes Velvet. The fine lead on the Polychromos pencils can really build up layers on the sandpaperlike texture of the paper. The colors are even more vibrant in real life. I really enjoyed drawing the grapes and their transparency.

A little color and warmth in the winter greys. Color pencil on Canson Mi-teintes Velvet paper. My first drawing on this particular paper. I bought it for pastel but discovered it works great with color pencils.

Helgens kurs. Första gången jag fick använda färger. Oj så svårt det var. Fick ändra färgerna på keramikvasen säkert 5-7 gånger. Och vindruvorna såg länge ut som de var av plast. Men nu är jag faktiskt nöjd med dem.

First painting after a long break. It's painted on gessoed watercolor paper. I just played with brushstrokes and texture. But I love the warm glow on the mushrooms and foreground against the cool background trees.

Next step in my atelier training. Oil painting with 3 colors. Ivory black,raw umber and white. I've already drawn David's eye and this time I chose the mouth. My biggest challenge was getting the temperature right. Too cool or too warm in comparison ended up looking muddy even though the value was right. Ivory black is almost blue, which is cool in temperature and raw umber is really warm in comparison.
