Happy Frightful Friday, folks! Another week of Spooky Season down, and it seems like it's going by quickly this year. But it's also First Issue Friday, and this is another Bronze Age favorite of mine; Werewolf By Night #1, from 1972. Story by Gerry Conway and classic Mike Ploog cover. This series is a great read from start to finish, and not just because it features the first, second and third appearances of my guy Moon Knight. Solid writing and fantastic art throughout. I wish we could get another long-running series of this classic character...or at least another installment of the Disney+ special. The red Keyguard from @keyguardshop just gives this cover a little more life!

I think this might be the BEST example of an orange keyguard I’ve seen yet. Just look at how perfectly it complements Fantastic Four 1 from 1961. The colors, the artwork, everything about this combination is absolutely beautiful.

And this isn’t just any comic. This is the book that launched the Marvel Age of Comics!

A few facts you might not know.

Fantastic Four 1 was released on August 8, 1961, despite having a November cover date. It originally cost just 10 cents.

The Fantastic Four didn’t even have their iconic blue suits yet. Those wouldn’t appear until issue 3.

Johnny Storm wasn’t actually the first Human Torch. The original debuted in 1939, more than 20 years earlier!

And that giant green monster on the cover? That’s Giganto, one of the Mole Man’s creatures. The Mole Man also made his first appearance in this issue, long before Doctor Doom or Galactus entered the picture.

65 years later, Jack Kirby’s artwork is still incredible. And seeing this beautiful CGC 5.0 surrounded by orange just takes it to another level.

Huge shout out to @princeplanet70 for sharing this masterpiece. Seriously, what a book and what a perfect color choice!

Venom: Lethal Protector 1 from 1993. One of the most iconic Venom covers ever created, and this CGC 9.8 looks absolutely insane in a purple keyguard!

Here’s a little history some collectors might not know.

This was Venom’s very first solo comic series, written by David Michelinie with artwork by Mark Bagley. It marked a major turning point for Eddie Brock as Marvel began transforming him from one of Spider Man’s greatest enemies into an antihero.

But here’s where it gets interesting.

Although the comic has a February 1993 cover date, it actually hit stores on December 29, 1992!

The famous red foil cover was a massive part of the comic collecting boom of the 1990s. Marvel also produced a much scarcer gold foil edition, with approximately 11,000 copies distributed.

Even crazier, there are rare printing errors where the iconic red foil background is completely missing, leaving a black background instead!

This issue also features the first cameo appearance of General Orwell Taylor, who would become an important enemy of Venom.

Over 30 years later, this cover still looks incredible.

And that purple keyguard? The contrast against the metallic red cover and Venom’s blue highlights is absolutely beautiful.

Our keyguards are STILL ONLY $5 each! Premium protection without covering up the artwork that makes these books special.

Huge shoutout to @ttcoll17 for sharing this beautiful book and supporting keyguard! Love seeing collectors put their own style into their displays.

MISSION COMPLETED!

Every single preorder I could possibly pack has officially been packed! Just look at these piles. What a crazy few days it’s been!

We still have about 140 preorders remaining across other colors, cases, acrylics, manga, stands, and two piece top loaders. Those will be fulfilled as the remaining shipments arrive!

Our next shipment should arrive in about 2 to 3 weeks with pink, green, glow in the dark, black and orange gradient, and black and green gradient keyguards!

I will NOT be putting those colors back on the website until they physically arrive, unless we somehow sell out of our current inventory, which I honestly don’t see happening.

That means EVERYTHING currently available on the website as far as keyguards go is IN STOCK and ready to ship immediately!

And yes, I’m keeping them at just $5 each because you guys seem to love that price, and I love seeing more keyguards out in the world!

Thank you all for your patience, your support, and for helping me turn something that started in my basement into what it is today. We’re just getting started!

These are only $9.99!

In my opinion, these are the best comic display stands on the market! This isn’t cheap plastic. These are made from premium 8mm thick acrylic and specifically designed to fit graded slabs with KEYGUARDs installed.

Preorders are open now and production is underway!

Only 100 are being made in our first production run, and I believe we only have about 80 left! Limit 8 per order.

At $9.99, you’re not going to find a better stand for your collection!
