a year without my bestfriend. a year without my other half…

i somehow managed to convince myself for a whole year that none of this is real. y’all might think that i’m insane for saying that. but i truly can’t describe the feeling. it’s like my heart knew but my mind just didn’t let me truly believe it. for a whole year. in my mind it was always, there’s no way that you could have been taken from me. there’s no way that such a great man could have been stripped away from the family that he was creating. there’s no way. and now a year later…it’s real. it’s all crashing down. i just feel so much heaviness on my heart like the day that it happened. it’s like i can feel that worry, anger, and pain all over again….that night/morning forever replays in my head. the screams. the tears. the pain. the emptiness.

i look at our baby boy and just feel so much sadness and heartbreak for him. how am i going to explain this to our precious boy. how is this fair to him. how is it fair…i always wonder how. how did i get through this. how am i continuing to get through this.

and it’s because i know God has a plan. God has a reason. i know that you’re watching and guiding us every step of the way even on the days where it seems the hardest.

i will forever speak your name. i will forever tell our story. i will forever miss you.

two roses for the two years i’ve had to live without you. ❤️‍🩹

two years and i still don’t have enough or the right words to express how much you are missed. how much you are loved. two years of learning how to live with a heartbreak i’d never thought i’d have to go through. two years of trying to accept a reality i never wanted. at moments i still catch myself thinking that this isn’t real. that there’s no way im having to live a life without you. no matter how much time passes, i will forever wish you were still here with us.

bringing our stetty boy to lay these roses on your grave breaks my heart for him. wishing you got to meet him. wishing you were here to see how smart, loving, and caring our handsome boy is. i promise to keep your memory alive and to forever tell our boy how much you loved his mommy. how much you loved him without even meeting him. how much you prayed for him. how we have the most perfect angel watching over us.

two years without you and i’ll spend the rest of my life missing you.
