kf13 🎎 Shiki

“Shiki” means the four seasons in Japanese - spring, summer, autumn, and winter. This EP was inspired by an old Japanese folktale called “Uguisu Choja,” where four storehouses each hold a different seasonal world inside.

I grew up in Hokkaido, a place where you can truly feel the changing of the seasons. It’s something I’ve always found deeply beautiful, and I’m grateful to have experienced life in such an environment.

This EP is a reflection of those seasons, an expression of the beauty and gratitude I carry with me - kf13

“Toshinooto” is a Boom Bap instrumental inspired by the sounds of the city. Alongside dusty drums and warm melodic textures, the track incorporates field recordings captured in the streets of the city where I live, adding an authentic sense of place and atmosphere.
Apart from one-shot drum hits, the music was built entirely from self-made samples, reflecting a commitment to originality and personal sound design.
Released as part of the [The Daily Grind] compilation from The Jazz Hop Café.
