I did the dang thing!! As a child of immigrants I would like to take this time to thank the foundation and pillars of my life: Mom and Dad

Mom, you are the strongest woman I know. I’ve watched you work tirelessly, day in and day out, using your hands and heart to care for others while always making it a priority to take care of me and dad. You lift up our family with your love, patience, and unwavering dedication. You gave so much of yourself so I could chase my dreams and now, standing here as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I see how every step I took was built on the path you paved.

Dad, your strength looks different, but it’s just as powerful. Your spirit has always been my anchor. Even through challenges, you’ve filled my life with laughter, optimism, and so much warmth. You’ve taught me that strength isn’t always physical, it’s in the way you show up for us every single day, with love and joy in your heart. Your positivity, your light, and the way you show up for us every day, despite everything you face, has shaped my heart and taught me the true meaning of courage. You remind me that joy can live in any circumstance, and that love can be loud even without movement.

As a first-generation Doctor of Physical Therapy, I stand on your shoulders. This degree is a reflection of your sacrifices, love, and belief in me. I am proud to be your daughter. This achievement is not mine alone, as it belongs to all of us. This degree may say Kyla Floresca, PT, DPT with my name, but I will forever read it with your names.

10 years ago my dad shielded me from a falling tree and I’m forever grateful. For the past decade my dad has faced everyday with a smile and positive attitude which are both very contagious. His attitude and ability to always see the good in everything and everyone is truly inspiring. Despite the many difficulties he faces everyday his love for hockey, family, life and friends never wavers. Keep on dancing and never stop dad. You’re truly a light in this world 💕 by @kfloresca97

Conn will always have my heart, but the friends I’ve made at conn will always hold a special place in my heart. Even though my time at conn was cut short, I would not have changed the past 3.75 years. Beyond grateful for all the friends and memories I have made in camel land. As a cute yellow and very hungry bear once said “How luck am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard?” P.S. sorry to everyone who didn’t make the video! Kyla has been my best friend since I tripped her on a breakaway 20+ years ago 😂 She’s shown up for me in a lot of ways since then, so I wanted to show up for her on her birthday even though we live 800+ miles apart!!
