Yesterday was a powerful reminder of what happens when we open the doors of government to the next generation.Councilmember Kelvin Garcia’s Youth Advisory Group had the incredible opportunity to meet with the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia and experience firsthand the importance of civic engagement, public service, and leadership. For the youth of Herndon, this was more than just a visit it was a chance to see that their voices matter, their ideas belong in the room, and their future is connected to the decisions being made today.Getting young people involved in government is not just about preparing future leaders; it is about empowering them right now. Herndon’s youth deserve access, opportunity, and a seat at the table. Through this Youth Advisory Group, Councilmember Garcia continues to create pathways for students to engage with elected officials, understand the role of public service, and recognize the power they have to shape their community.Moments like this show our young people that leadership is within reach and that Herndon’s future is bright because our youth are ready, inspired, and engaged. #LFG by @kg__6

Thank you to @udclaw for finally honoring the 2020 graduating class! Can’t believe 6 years ago I finished law school and now making a difference! Although I couldn’t make the hooding ceremony due to work obligations I was there in spirit! Hopefully one day I will come back and give a commencement speech!! #LFG by @kg__6

Well that concludes the 2025-2026 South Lakes Freshie Girls Basketball Season! I am super proud of the team and everything we accomplished. We got the most wins in South Lakes HISTORY as a freshmen program and we scored the most points as well! “The Storybook Season” It was Always About Winning.
