POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Maybe raising a “good kid” is overrated.

I’d rather raise a child who…

🌼 stops to smell flowers.
🦋 notices tiny creatures.
👑 wears princess dresses to the beach.
🪨 throws rocks into creeks.
🤎 comes home muddy.
🌿 respects the natural world.
👯 grows up to be their sibling’s best friend.

Childhood doesn’t have to look polished to be meaningful.

Sometimes it looks like tangled hair, dirty hands, scraped knees, and pockets full of treasures they insisted on bringing home.

And maybe… that’s the kind of childhood worth protecting.

(And for the record I think all kids are good kids)

We spend so much time delighting in our children.

Their giggles.
Their excitement.
The way their eyes light up when they discover something new.

We celebrate their joy without hesitation.

But somewhere along the way, many of us stopped asking ourselves:

✨ What brings me joy?
✨ When was the last time I felt playful?
✨ What would it look like to nurture my own inner child the way I nurture theirs?

Motherhood asks so much of us. It’s easy to pour every ounce of ourselves into our children and forget that we matter too.

Today, while picking blueberries with my kids, I was reminded that joy isn’t just for them.

It’s for us, too.

Not because we’re selfish.
Not because we’re trying to escape motherhood.

But because a mother who feels alive, fulfilled, and connected to herself brings that energy back to her family.

So consider this your gentle reminder:

You are allowed to enjoy your life alongside your children.

“One more hug.” “I’m thirsty.” “Can you check for monsters?”

If you just laughed out loud, welcome to the club every tired parent is secretly in.

Here’s the part that actually helps: most stalling isn’t about water or monsters at all. It’s a nervous system that isn’t quite ready to separate from connection yet.

Naming that instead of negotiating every single request is usually what shortcuts the whole thing. 🌙

I put together a free preview of exactly how to do this (plus the calming bedtime rhythm behind it) — it’s the same approach behind The Sleep Story Method.

Want it? Grab the free preview at the link in my bio, I’ll send it straight to your inbox. 💌

***Looking for trial families***

I’m currently looking for 3–5 Pilot Families to participate in my Parent Observation & Support Program at a very limited introductory rate. In exchange, families will provide feedback, a testimonial, and permission for me to use anonymized outcomes as part of future promotional material.

I’m excited to share a new service I’m offering through The Gentle Grove Studio.

As an early childhood educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, a Master’s degree in Special Education, and years of experience working with young children and families, I’ve often had parents ask if I could come observe and help them better understand what’s going on with their child.

Sometimes parents know something isn’t working—whether it’s sibling conflicts, big emotions, bedtime struggles, challenging transitions, or daily routines—but they’re not sure why or what to do next.

I offer in-home observations and personalized support to help families identify patterns, better understand their child’s behavior, and develop practical strategies that fit their family’s values and goals.

Feel free to message me if you’d like more information on services and pricing or think this might be helpful for your family. 🌿

Did you know there are different types of dysregulation? Most calm down tools are broad and can apply to some or all of them but it can be hard to figure it out when you don’t have a background in child development. The Calm Down Corner System doesn’t just have printables for helping with emotional regulation in kids- it teaches parents about the different types of dysregulation, what behaviors to look for, and guidance to help you figure out what tools and strategies are right for your child in each different meltdown moment…even better, you’ll start to notice when to step in before the escalation.
I hope you love it!! by @kgriffin8

Thank everyone who donated, checked in, supported and walked with us this year at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in honor of my dad. Writing this makes me think about how many more years we’ll be walking in honor of him instead of in memory of him. It was a beautiful day for a walk with our family and chosen family 💜 by @kgriffin8

Not sure what to look for when you’re enjoying nature but weary of Poison Ivy?
Just remember this chant from the @fernbrooknatureschool Forest Explorer Class and you’ll be safe!

⚠️Poison Ivy⚠️
🌿Leaves of 3, let it be
🌿Long middle stem, stay away from them
🌿Hairy vine is no friend of mine
🌿Side leaves like mittens, itch like the dickens

🌱also look out for alternating stems, red leaves in spring, and some have white berries in spring
