Some of my sweetest childhood memories begin and end with you, PawPaw. The sound of your laugh when you’d play “bear” and chase me and my siblings through the house, the warmth in your eyes when you’d tell me you wanted me to be the best I could be in softball and always believing in me before I even believed in myself. You had a way of making life feel fun and safe at the same time. I remember the cookies and crackers. How you’d share them with me even when they were meant for you, knowing you weren’t supposed to share them because of your T1D. That was you in a nutshell… selfless, loving, and always giving. When you were sick, you never stopped being that person. You still put everyone else first. You still asked about my games, my days, my life. You still made me feel like your little girl running through the house, giggling, with the “bear” on my heels. You taught me what love really looks like. It’s not grand gestures or perfect words. It’s in the small, everyday choices to care for someone more than yourself. I’ll carry your lessons, your laughter, and your love with me for the rest of my life. Anytime I go and pick up a club once I’m done with ball, I’ll always think of you. Give my Lou the biggest hugs and throw the ball for her every once in a while. Rest easy my Pawpaw. I miss you deeply. I love you endlessly. And I’ll spend my days making you proud. 🤍🐻 by @kgriggs9
