hi so have i mentioned how much i love the bone season by samantha shannon itā€™s so difficult to sum up these books in a two minute video because there is genuinely SO much to talk about and so much depth and complexity to this world and these characters. iā€™m also the kind of reader who likes to go into books knowing as little as possible, because that first-time experience is so special, so i tried to be a little vague. i havenā€™t been this enamoured by a fantasy series in a long time. i love these books so much and iā€™m so excited to be emotionally wrecked by the moth reborn in february šŸ„° readdd the bone seasonnn!!! #theboneseason #bookstagram #bookrecs #bookrecommendations #books by @khadijahreads

september, wow!! what a month!!! i read what will probably be my top read of the year (the moth reborn, to no oneā€™s surprise), found a new favourite trilogy (the devoured worlds), and read a total of four most anticipated releases! the moth reborn, merciful carnage, and copperstitched were all ARCs and iā€™m so grateful to have gotten to read them early šŸ¤ iā€™ll be sharing more of my thoughts on all of these in my september reading wrap up on youtube, which will hopefully be up by next week what was your favourite read of september? #bookstagram #books #reading #readingwrapup #september by @khadijahreads

i recently went to the uk and when i was planning my trip, i knew i had to visit some of the locations mentioned in the bone season series, which takes place across europe. as a reader with aphantasia, it is magical to see the places in your favourite books in person. hereā€™s a mini little bone season tour from my time in england and scotland :) also this is the first time iā€™m using this format with videos, i hope it looks okay! #bookstagram #theboneseason #books #reading #travel i didnā€™t have a lot of time in london, but this was a mandatory stop for me! seven dials is where the series begins. itā€™s also the location of the white binderā€™s den & the base for the seven seals. i loved it here and ended up getting lunch at the seven dials market i planned to be in oxford for a day and magdalen college was first on the list of places to see. this is a major setting in the first book, known as the residence of magdalen. paige is taken to oxford after she is arrested in the beginning of the story and stays in the founderā€™s tower, where arcturus resides. it was so stunning, i couldā€™ve wandered for hours! addisonā€™s walk (or the water walk) is a scenic trail on magdalen campus grounds. itā€™s featured in the first book as arcturusā€™ private retreat. i walked through the whole trail and it was so peaceful and beautiful. there were so many deer (šŸ„¹šŸ„¹šŸ„¹) and i had a lovely time! i initially wasnā€™t going to hike up arthurā€™s seat while i was in edinburgh because iā€™m not much of a hiker, but iā€™m so glad i did. the views were unreal and i was blessed with gorgeous weather (and a rainbow)! paige and arcturus climb up arthurā€™s seat in the song rising, the third book in the series. anchor close is an alleyway in edinburgh old town. itā€™s featured in the song rising, where paige uses it as a safe house while sheā€™s in edinburgh. taken in United Kingdom by @khadijahreads

two of my reading goals this year were to write more reviews and start a reading journal. part of why i started this account (and my youtube channel, where i try to articulate my thoughts more) is because last year i caught myself not critically engaging with the books i was reading. i read over 100 books last year, but i realized that i wouldnā€™t be able to tell you much about some of them, because i was consuming them one after the other and not really reflecting on the content and how it made me feel. as a fast reader, itā€™s something iā€™m still working on, but writing all my thoughts down in my journal has helped a LOT and iā€™ve written more reviews than i ever have this year! so here are some mini book reviews (yes some are a sentence long) do you keep a reading journal? how do you go about writing reviews? #bookstagram #books #reading #bookreviews #bookrecs by @khadijahreads

thereā€™s nothing better than a book surprising you in the best ways :) these are some books that i wasnā€™t expecting to love as much as i did! iā€™m currently reading a fractured dark by megan oā€™keefe, which is the sequel to the blighted stars, and LOVING it. iā€™m more than halfway through so Iā€™ll likely finish it soon. iā€™m also reading copperstitched by kalie reid (only 10% through though)! what books surprised you this year (or in general)? #bookstagram #books #reading #bookrecommendations #bookrecs by @khadijahreads

my fall recommendations and hopefuls :) i canā€™t believe itā€™s september as for reading updatesā€¦ iā€™m still recovering from the moth reborn and i donā€™t think iā€™ll ever stop thinking about it šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø but i just started the knave and the moon and iā€™m really excited! iā€™m also trying to get through my travel content before i film my reading wrap ups, but i have SO much content to go through and edit. iā€™m currently working on an oxford vlog and itā€™s going well so far! let me know what books youā€™re planning on reading this fall šŸ¤ #bookstagram #books #reading #bookrecommendations #fall by @khadijahreads

hi lovelies! not going to lie august was the worst reading month iā€™ve had all year but at least i read some good books! a trade of blood was the standout read for me this month, i cannot recommend the shadow of the leviathan series enough if you enjoy a combination of mystery and fantasy iā€™m currently reading the blighted stars and iā€™m really excited to see where it goes! i also got an ARC of minbak and just started it as well hehe iā€™ve been inactive because life has been busy but in a good way! iā€™m trying my best to vlog what iā€™ve been up to but iā€™m honestly really bad at it so itā€™s a work in progress šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø (also if anyone has any tips on where to find royalty free background music for youtube vlogsā€¦ let me know) how did your august reading go? did you have any standouts or disappointments? hope you are all doing well! #bookstagram #books #reading #readingwrapup #august by @khadijahreads

some of the books that met, exceeded, and did not meet my expectations (and some of the books i have high expectations for)! iā€™m months late to this but i wanted to do it anyways šŸ¤øšŸ»ā€ā™€ļø also a reminder that reading is subjective!! just because a book didnā€™t work for me doesnā€™t mean it wonā€™t work for you, these are just my opinions! i have a lot going on the next two weeks so i might not be posting as much + my youtube august reading wrap up video might be late, but iā€™m going to try my best to get it up by early september (most likely mid september though šŸ« ). august has been a very rough reading month so iā€™m hoping september will be kinder to me let me know your thoughts! have you read any of these? #bookstagram #books #reading by @khadijahreads

september is looking to be a stacked reading month, iā€™m so excited! these are my most anticipated september releases what are you looking forward to reading in september? #bookstagram #books #reading #september #fallreads iā€™ve literally been yearning to hold the knave and the moon in my hands since i finished the knight and the moth last year. i know this is going to be a stunning read and iā€™m counting down the days! iā€™ve been anticipating empire for almost two years and i canā€™t believe itā€™s almost here! if you havenā€™t read the ember in the ashes series yetā€¦ you should go do that in all honesty i never read horror because i scare really easily šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø but iā€™m going to be brave for our cut of salt! the premise sounds incredible iā€™ve been hearing so many good things about this book and i canā€™t wait to pick it up! it sounds like the perfect fall fantasy read by @khadijahreads
