Today is my birthday, and it’s absolutely surreal. Because this is FIFTY. The big 5-0.

It isn’t just saying goodbye to my favorite 40s decade, I’m crossing a major milestone. Some people have mid-life crisis and buy a Corvette, but I’m choosing to celebrate mid-life successes, plus 50 is the new 30! I’m proud of who I’ve become, the family I’ve raised, the life I’ve built, and proud of myself for helping those I could. To my friends, thank you for all the laughs and support. You bring my life joy. To my family, thank you for always loving me. It made me a confident and secure man. To those no longer in my life, thank you for the experiences. It helped me learn and grow. And to my Dad, thank you for everything. I wish you were still here to celebrate with me, but I’ll continue to make you proud.

I have no regrets, just a love for the life I’ve lived and nothing but gratitude. But this is only the first half and I have more to look forward to. Happy Birthday to me. Now on to Part 2.

Happy 93rd Birthday in Heaven, Dad. I keep finding new gems in mom’s photo albums. This was my 8th birthday at our Mandeville Canyon home. We had the best times there didn’t we? So many exciting things have happened this last year. Indiana won the national championship and the Dodgers won it all again. You would’ve loved watching the Mendoza kid and World Series Game 7 would’ve given you a heart attack. Malia is now social media coordinator at e.l.f. Beauty and moved into her first apartment. Keira got an internship at Metro LA and worked the World Cup campaign. So proud of them both. And Leo turned 9 hehe. Me, I’m just holding up the fort and making sure it all happens, trying to be the best dad I can be like you taught me. I’m hoping you’re up there playing chess with Kobe today. I’m sure he’s good at it or once you beat him, he’ll get really good at it! Missing you as always and know we’re singing Happy Birthday to you down here. We treat our business like an athlete who never practiced 👀

One of my clients Arjun Dhingra is a mortgage originator. In 2012 he hired me as his mindset coach. He was 31 and wanted a second world gold medal. That year as a team we won US gold European gold and world gold 🙌

Here is the point. Think about an Olympian. Years of practice for a few minutes of performance. Most of us just play the game and expect to get better. We do not practice.
