A desert story 🐪☀️

This frame started as an idea: a lone camel crossing the Empty Quarter dunes framed by the glowing Abu Dhabi sunset.

We spent hours driving deep into the desert to finally find the perfect dunes and camel 🐪

With less than 40 minutes before sunset, we rushed to align every element:
the camel…
the rider…
the dune lines…
and the sun melting into the horizon 🌅

As we drove away to compress the shot the dunes started overlapping and we lost sight of the camel, almost to give up as we got stuck in soft sand… suddenly it appeared again in the distance!

We rushed to take the camera and walked on the dunes to align all the elements together. After several attempts and melting under the desert heat, we finally got the perfect frame ✨

One image holding an entire story.

Huge thanks to @khd_uae & @hamed_musharbak for the teamwork and patience 🙏🏼

Discover 'The UAE is Beautiful,' a new photography exhibition opening on 14 May at Cultural Foundation.

Featuring lead artist Khalid Al Hammadi, the group exhibition brings together works by UAE-based photographers, inspired by the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan: “The UAE is beautiful; the UAE is a role model.” Through each lens, the exhibition captures the country’s richness, diversity, and the human stories that shape its identity.

As part of the experience, a community activation developed in collaboration with Emirates Post invites the public to take part in a collective initiative. Visitors are encouraged to share their own photographs highlighting the beauty of the UAE through a dedicated post box on site, contributing to a collective portrait shaped through shared personal perspectives.

Known for showcasing UAE landmarks in his work, Emirati photographer @khd_uae has been photographing professionally since 2015. Al Hammadi’s most recent series highlights the striking architecture of the upcoming Zayed National Museum and has received praise from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed on X.

Khalid exclusively told Villa 88 Man: “The series of Zayed National Museum is very close to my heart. I spent months planning and capturing it, so when His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed commented and said, ‘Thank you, Khaled,’ it was a proud moment that made all the effort worth it.

I always look for moments where nature meets our landmarks. The UAE is full of inspiration — deserts, mangroves, the city skyline — and I love showing how our landscapes and buildings together tell the story of this country.”

An Emirati photographer’s striking series of images capturing Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi has caught the attention of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Sheikh Abdullah has shared Khalid Al Hammadi photos on X and praising him for his vision. The highly anticipated Zayed National Museum, already an Abu Dhabi landmark due to its architecture, is set to open in December.

“That moment was very special and it’s not his first time, he is always supporting and encouraging me to be the best,” Al Hammadi told The National. “We are lucky to have such leaders, may Allah bless them all.”
